That's right. It's the only thing we currently have to go by and Jesus recommends himself to be familiar with it. A personal relationship with Jesus is something that is built a combination of ways. While Jesus speaks to us through prayer, dreams, AND scripture, it's important that you take advantage of all three. Anything you are told spiritually should never go against biblical principles. That's how you'll know you're being deceived...or not.

As for Jesus losing followers based on what he taught (about himself), go read John 6.

This was a situation where some probably didn't even understand what Jesus was saying and some still don't. Others just turned away because they didn't want to believe that He was the Messiah that the Old Testament prophesied about.

I know it's hard because it's all we have to back up our claims
Trust me I know I'm always looking for new ways to talk to people about GOD and Jesus because they just dont want to hear it and they definitely won't listen if all you have to back it up is the bible

If you've opened up YOURSELF to some kind of "Christian mysticism", you've opened yourself up for deception and the Holy Spirit won't intervene in situations where you were warned and decided to wander into it anyway.

not the whole bible...
but alot of "today's bible" is man made and not truly the "word of GOD"

So for me it has nothing to do with GOD or Jesus it's more about...
Organized religion, the Bible (because of scripture changes, removal & additions) churches, the Vatican

Those are the reasons I don't consider myself a Christian

But my faith is strong!

Speaking in tongues is biblical, although I don't believe many are practicing it in the right way or for the right reasons.

As for John 6, Jesus tried to explain to them how He was the bread from Heaven that they needed in order to "live", but they didn't want to believe it.
