are particularly suited for mass murder - Machine guns for example.

Well you know machine guns are highly restricted - Isn't it now time time to restrict the ownership to the high
capacity semi- auto? - Do you really need a 30 or more round clip for self defense?

From this report we find that the US is far from being ranked 3rd in homicides. The top 3 nations are:

El Salvador- 108.8 intentional homicides per 100,000

Honduras- 63.8

Venezuela- 57.2

The US rate is 4.9, putting it way down the list at #94 (out of 219).

Even if we count the absolute number of homicides instead of homicide rate, the US still isn’t 3rd. In absolute numbers, the top 3 countries are:

Brazil- 55,574

India- 41,623

Mexico- 20,762

The US is number 8, with 15,696 homicides in 2015.

Given the above information, I can hardly see where you justify, "it only happens here"...

I don't really think so either but they have banned specific weapons and hardware and that needs to continue.

Military type assault rifles are not needed to shoot rabbits or even the junkie who enters your home.

I am optimistic at heart but realistic too.
I am hoping for some changes that will make this scenario less likely in the future.

I saw a video of three and four year olds learning how to quietly evade an active shooter at a preschool earlier this morning.
As a mother it just brought tears to my eyes.
I am heart broken that this is our world now.

Legal guns too if you have a hunting licence or sports shooting licence after vetting by the French interior ministry.
