Most people with mental illness aren’t violent so no it’s not just that, but clearly there is something wrong in the heads of those that carry out mass shootings.
Clearly saying "mental illness" and leaving it at that, is a red herring.
There is no actual diagnosis of psychopathy in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

Why dont the crazy people in other countries do things like open fire on an innocent crowd?
This only happens here.

Guns aren't as readily available is one obvious reason.
Yes they are... just need to know the right people.
Remember ex Yugoslavia? Tons of guns have hit the black market here in mainland Europe.

Anger. Hate. Intolerance.
I sometimes imagine they get sexually excited [hyperbole] every time there is a mass murder
Do you really need a 30 or more round clip for self defense?
If it is not a mental health problem in your opinion then what is it then?
I’m all ears to hear your explanation then?
It’s not my fault that psychologists insist on labelling people with a broad range of bad mental traits under one umbrella term.

From this report we find that the US is far from being ranked 3rd in homicides. The top 3 nations are:
El Salvador- 108.8 intentional homicides per 100,000
Honduras- 63.8
Venezuela- 57.2
The US rate is 4.9, putting it way down the list at #94 (out of 219).
Even if we count the absolute number of homicides instead of homicide rate, the US still isn’t 3rd. In absolute numbers, the top 3 countries are:
Brazil- 55,574
India- 41,623
Mexico- 20,762
The US is number 8, with 15,696 homicides in 2015.

For the record your post
If it is not a mental health problem in your opinion then what is it then?
didn't put a geographical border on your question.
And I didn't think there was one.
But ok
