I am not even trying to defend a Home Alone reboot. I just think it is funny that no one noticed all the other times it was rebooted.

We are no longer on sacred ground here. It is not coming to theaters. It is just streaming fodder for Disney's new service. I am sure the originals will be on there also.

I sort of agree with you, though I also feel like Disney has very little creativity running their company. The recycling of past beloved movies is a sad testament to the old "there is nothing new in Hollywood" trope. That said, this clearly isn't in the same vein as the Ghostbusters abortion of a movie or that God awful Robocop remake.

The idea of the OP getting his movie news form RT makes me giggle for some reason.

Honestly I think this could work, depends on the execution but if you think about it, the stuff that a kid that is "home alone" in 2020 experience are very different from 1990 so I would expect it to be a very different movie. Most kids watching the original movie probably don't quite get some of the struggles that us 80's and 90's kids had. Its not as relatable for them as it would be for us. So while this movie probably won't be for me, I totally understand why they want to remake it.

I seem to remember they made loads of these movies in the 1990's, I don't recall anyone getting upset about Home alone 4: Taking back the house.

it would be nice to see them properly reboot it with the Mcallister family and poor Kevin missing out on a family holiday, but they might just do it with a whole new family. I hope its about a black muslim kid to mixed race transgender parents just to trigger all the righties who can't enjoy a movie unless its a got a white strait male in the lead roll with out crying about "the PC agenda".

Personally i thought this was a great and fitting 'sequel' to home alone myself.

Home alone reboot actually takes place in the original home. Child gets left alone and Macaulay, in a nostalgic haze, attempts to break into the house, murder the kid and assume his identity to relieve his childhood.

Really when you break it down there are only actually 7 basic plots in fiction, and everything is basically a version of them that repeats constantly but with differing variable. You can boil down just about every movie, book, comic, video game and just bout anything else into 7 repeating plots and its been going on for a very long time now.
