Of course it's different, but having a human liver does not make a pig part human any more that having a pig heart valve makes a human part pig.

And anyway:
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

ow for the word “dominion” or “rule”. In Hebrew this is radah. It’s a royal word. This is the dominating rule of a king. But let’s pause and think of the kind of king that God desires. The same word is used in Psalm 72, originally a coronation psalm for Solomon.
Verse 8: “May he have dominion [radah] from sea to sea . . .” But now look at verses 12-14 to see what that dominion, that radah, looks like: He delivers the needy when they call, the poor and those who have no helper. He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the lives of the needy. From oppression and violence he redeems their life; and precious is their blood in his sight. (NRSV)

The dominion that God desires is one that protects the defenseless and gives justice to the oppressed. Applying this to the command for humanity to exercise dominion over creation, we can see that while we rule over creation, we’re called to protect it.

And yet another item to add to the list titled, "This Won't End Well."

humans are primates with a gmo-fused chromosome pair fused, as evidenced by presence of a centromere and of telomeres in the middle where thehy should not be, on C2

all other primates have 48 chromosomes. only humans have 46, as a pair were fused to C2

of course there is research to hide/de-bunk this fact, as there is disinfo about one single humanzee developed in florida, when in reality there have been hundreds of underground human-chimp breeding experiments - both gmo and conventional trial-error matings - going on since at 100yrs ago

I'm interested in how this progresses! I think lots of people believe making human-animal hybrids in entirely unethical, however, I am interested in seeing the results!

I won't participate, but I'll watch, who knows what China will end up doing in the long run. One could theoretically make "super-humans" by combining human DNA with animal traits to give the resulting lifeforms natural powers.

I happen to agree that adding human DNA to an animal brings it into the human sphere and thus more ethical questions should be asked than normal! China could end up raising human-animal hybrids for use in organ farming, or possibly as slaves, who knows, anything is possible in the far future.

I'm all about enhancing human potential, like with cybernetics and the like. I also agree with stem-cell research.

It does seem like a line could be crossed that probably shouldn't be crossed.

Do you really think those lines have not already been crossed, many many times?
too late

Liger can't reproduce

No Clue

It's simple. In the back of their minds such engineers do not need any reason to do hybrid breeding, they don't need our allowance, permission or agreement, nor anything of that kind..., they solely need the technology.

this is sad. they need to figure out how to make organs just solo, it super serum fish tanks to to speak.
the human hybrids will grow, only to be slaughtered.

instead of working on the hybrid concept, they need to work on 3d printing them or, like i said, the serum in fish tank instead.

You are confusing hybridization with genetic manipulation.

In any case, just because a pig has a human liver, it doesn't make it any more human.

Just gotta donate a small sample of your bone marrow, and you're on your way! (Belmonte promises to be responsible with your DNA and not use it to create rat-man, pig-man, or monkey-man.)

BTW, before you settle on the liger, might want to consider this Deep Thought of Jack Handy's:

Jack Handey V/O: Contrary to what most people say, the most dangerous animal in the world is not the lion or the tiger or even the elephant. It’s a shark riding on an elephant’s back, just trampling and eating everything they see.

A shelephant... just sayin.

I haven't really seen the main argument I laid out in the OP against this technology addressed by proponents.

If the existing "hosts" are not viable or expedient for the desired outcome (harvesting human organs), doesn't that put the whole project into question?

Or do the proponents condone creating and then destroying embryos for the sake of observation/experimentation alone?

Just because we can do something never means we should.

This is a moral test that our species is failing.

It is not really official but if we take a honest look at ourselves we must conclude..

Most of us are idiots.

just lets hope there is hope..
