I am a few pages behind, so forgive me if someone has already answered this, but when the Queen dies, the code is “London Bridge has fallen” or something like that. I'm not going to claim to know what's going on in the NYPD, because whether by happenstance or not we are hearing of numerous NYPD suicides lately, BUT when it comes to the national numbers, I'm not surprised they're so high.

Back around the turn of the millennium, and maybe even before, there was a major push to get military vets into the police force upon their discharge. And the MOS they seemed to want most were infantrymen. I thought that was strange because I would figure they'd want MPs. But nope, they wanted grunts. And after 9-11 and the subsequent wars, a lot of infantrymen joined the police force while also suffering from PTSD.

I've always attributed this to the seeming rise in cop related shooting deaths around the country. PTSD addled, trigger happy cops. Ugh. In any event, veterans are committing suicide at an alarming rate. Like 22 per day. I'd wager this is also the cause of a lot of police officer suicides. Just a guess though.

One statistic I can offer came from my police academy. Police and correctional officers die, on average, within five years of retirement. This is a major reason that men and women in the Security and Public Safety sector are allowed to retire at as early as 55.

Stress. Kills.

I am one of the semi-fallen. Almost 30 of my colleagues have died EARLY since I started in LE in 1982 - cancer, heart attacks, strokes, and suicides.

This is in ONE department.

1) There are 4x 14 because:
a) Chan post number of 95 = 9+5 = 14,
b) 14:28:16 gives 14,
c) 14:28:16 gives 2x 14.

2) There are 3x 15 because:
a) Feb 15 gives 15,
b) 14:28:16 gives 1+4+2+8= 15,
c) Post number Q771 = 7+7+1 = 15.

3) There are 2x16 because:
a) 14:28:16 = 1x 16,
b) 2018 14:28:16 = 2+0+1+8+1+4 = 16,

6) There is 1 x 17 because:

On the original timetable;
T-4 was August 14th,
T-3 was August 15th,

On the revised timetable, 2 days ahead of original:

Thank you for your service. Being a cop certainly can't be easy. On top of the daily rigors of the job LEO are also placed in a damned if they do and damned if they don't situation with the public. It's a shame it has to be this way. Hopefully that changes soon.

Well, don't take it the wrong way when I say "trigger happy cops." I don't mean that in any disparaging way towards the LEO. Just that PTSD does tend to make one trigger happy. Especially if the cop has been in, say, an active warzone. Each situation is tragic and I'm sure most everyone goes into the job with good intentions.
