SG, I think it's an act in order to disassociate POTUS from what is about to happen... If he were to personally take command and order the military to "Lock up half of congress" he would be seen as a dictator, no different from Noriega, Papadoc, etc. However, if he takes a sabbatical and orders the Supreme Court and military to "restore the constitution" then he is giving the power back to the people via the justice system?
