Could Boris Johnson be UK PM and then US president

Boris Johnson renewed his US passport in November 2012, the London Mayor's aides have confirmed...

...He was born in New York and is thus a "natural-born citizen", a constitutional requirement for any presidential candidate...

...Article II, section 1 of the US Constitution has just three eligibility criteria for being president - being "a natural born American", aged over 35 and living in the US for 14 years. Johnson falls down on the last - but in theory he could leave Downing Street and move to the US and 14 years later enter the race for the White House.

There is nothing in the constitution to stop a foreign leader becoming US head of state, says Dr Joshua Simon, lecturer in American politics at King's College London.

Newly elected British Conservative Party leader, Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, is about to be appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland by Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth today (GMT time).

The topic of his dual citizenship amusingly cropped up again as we were funnily reminded that the UK Prime Minister designate has nothing stopping him from running for the highest office in the United States - in principle anyway...

He as to be a natural born citizen either meaning he was born on US soil or his mother was a US citizen.

Only if Trump wasn't running. Nobody can beat that guy.

He is not rich enough to make a try to become the Pres of the USA. Nor old enough.

You Americans insist on electing old people who wallow in cash.

Just like JFK and Obama. Right?

Another way of viewing this... an American now runs Great Britain.
it took 243 years, but the final insult of the Revolutionary War has been delivered.

So true.

And so triggering.

But so true.

He renounced his American citizenship though....

Link

Various thoughts on why he done it, some say it was over Trump, other say he wanted to prove his loyalty to the UK but personally I think it was to keep the IRS off his back. Who knows, regardless he is no longer a US citizen.

So am pretty sure that this would rule him out of ever becoming POTUS.

If you look at the last REPUBLICAN pres, then yes.

Old + white + rich + man= optimum prime for repub candidate for presidency.

Because somehow conservatives equate inherited money with success, being old with being wise and being white with being white.

I am looking at the democrats, too. They tried to supplement man with woman, but that is just not the same for US-americans, I guess.

Hey, I got an idea, maybe we can find some old-rooted us-american ancestry with Zensursula Von der Leyen and ship her over? You can have her, and Annegret Kampf-Knarrenbauer, too!
Merkel is legacy now, no more critical updates and she is falling apart, I would not recommend.

The US is welcome to him....the majority of us don't want him.
We'll do a swap for....well to be honest I can't think of anyone.

The thing is we really don't want him....but there is no credible alternative either.

To summarise; we're well and truly #ed!

At almost midnight my time, please forgive my misspelling. Spell check did not catch it.

As per your intent. . .
Sadly sometimes written word is not as obvious as conversations face to face. Something we should all recognize.
