Yes they gave her the moniker as symbolism of her becoming the new "bond". It is a PC message done on purpose. I don't know why the PC culture wants people to think trained woman are equal to or superior to trained men in combat. There is a reason there are men's and women's divisions. I find it insulting. Are women so inferior they need to create a fake reason for girls to think a strong woman is possible? Personally I think there are plenty already.

As a woman I was going to say a similar thing. I feel embarrassed that they shoehorn women into everything as if we need it.
I want to say from decent woman folk a hearty 'Sorry, we don't want this either'.

I hate, absolutely hate 'magical wimmins' that can fight as if they are 6 foot + tall and are super men.
I hate it, it looks stupid and it isn't real. They are made up and that is actually insulting, as if we can only be good if we behave like men but with boobs.

Give me a Jessica Fletcher or Charlies Angels or UKs Jonathan Creek with Caroline Quentin in it. These are normal woman, clever, fighting to their rabilities [yes even Charlies Angels] or not fighting at all and using brains instead.
As a woman I don't want to fight, I am not interested in women being blokey, we have blokes for that.

What will happen is that young women want to be like their heroines and soon find out that they can't emulate anything at all, because it's all made up and maybe it will daunt on them that women and men are not the same after all but it doens't mean one is better than the other. Just different.

I want to be different from men.

As to a character which is clearly conjured up so that black people and some [few] women don't cry; as others have said, write new material and include them, nobody is stopping you. To take loved characters and appropriate them [she's not JB but she is a spy with the number 007...pffff] or just change them, will leave fans of the afore mentioned pissed off.

Where will the inclusivity stop?
I want a blind and disabled James Bond, I want 3 gay men [with AIDS] to ply Charlies Angels, I want Poirot to be played by Arnold Schwarzenegger or Idris Elba but with a heavy American accent. I want a ginger girl child in the role of Jesus...maybe then, when all the absurdities have been ticked, we can go back and enjoy our beloved characters as they used to be.

Fans are people too and they want the characters they like. It's incredibly rude and condescending to just change them for smug points.

Reading between the lines it sounds as though she's only going to be in it for a few minutes at the start in order to get James Bond out of retirement - a 'token' gesture if you will. I wouldn't be at all surprised if after finding Bond this new 007 is killed, leaving James to track down her killers or something.

So likely this will be a combination of trolling their audience and testing the waters. Think about it, they'd have to be literally insane to replace James Bond (granted that's also a possibility).

Sadly I would submit its not bond without him as 007.
I like the franchise; hope they don't screw it up to prove how pc they are.

I think I will pass on this pc crap culture in movies......God forbid they make a female Bond having all other women hero movies do ok but end up losing at the box office.Which is what movies are all about anyways.......making money...

So there is no woman playing bond.

Lets just clear that up because you're not the only one jumping to this conclusion.

Now lets, look at your claim that female here movies movies are losing money at the box office, this is factually incorrect. Lets take Wonder Woman, made just over $800 Million of a production budget of $140 Million so yeah it made a lot of money, Captain Marvel made $1.1 billion so again made rather a lot of money, actually so far this year the only movie to beat it has been end game.

So yeah, you are factually incorrect to argue that female led hero movies do not make money. They make tons of money.

No, sorry, you need to get you're facts right, Ellen played the hulk and Melissa Mccarthy played Tony Stark.

So james Bond is retired at the beginning of the movie, so someone else has his Code name. And it's a black woman.

In the previous itteration they said that Bond was too archaic and an artifact from a generation of spys long gone
he was a weapon that no longer had a use in the modern world !

Will this switch to bond see a move away from all out fighting action to a more stealth and subterfuge bond with not a lot of action and combat scenes ?

I think this bond will be fine even though its a curveball to the already developed story of bond being male
and Ian Fleming never having written a story based around a female spy called 007 , so its a bit weird for the die hard fans to digest

Or they can simply not have a passing of the torch. No one watches Bond to see him pass the torch on to another. They would watch to see another person try to be 007 and fail so they need Bond back.

According to insiders a major subplot of the movie is Bond passing the spy torch on to her. She becomes the next "Bond".

Thankfully from what I am reading this will be the end of this Bond. Other directors are looking to do a reboot for the next film.

They should cast an attractive black woman if they’re going to pull this nonsense. Lynch is most definitely not beautiful as the insider said. Of course, the fact that she’s not a looker might be some kind of virtue signaling. I only hope it’s a one-time stunt.
