I don't see how Trumps EO is genius; unless he plans to have his comers department use the extra information on citizenship to change the offical census count. Even then the move wouldn't be genius because it would be challenged just like everything else Trump does. It's more like Trump made the best move he thought he could after losing the question in the supreme court. He didn't want to defy the supreme court at this time over this issue (that does nothing to help him personally) so he came up with a way to look like he is still trying to his base.

The part of all of this is that might be actionable is that he can continue to scare illegal immigrants into distrusting the census; question or no question they may still believe filling out the census could put them in jeopardy for deportation.

You might actually have a point there.

So, in the spirit of the times, I suggest that everyone in California, New York, Colorado, etc that is so enraged by this question put on a protest! But go a little farther this time... do it right! Make a real difference... don't fill out the Census at all! Refuse! It's your right!

(and I'll laugh my butt off when California winds up with only 3 districts after 2020)

But who is actually outraged about it? I never see this outrage anywhere but on the internet and TV. You ignored my point about freedoms being taken away little by little. Trump is just like the rest of them, no doubt.

But the never Trump crowd always claims he is not smart, even though he probably has more money than all the "never Trump crowd" combined. Let's hope that only unbiased, or pro-Trump staff members are used, because any democrat or liberal who is against Trump is one more person who could hide the real numbers so that his/her democrat district gets more representation.

I am sorry, what freedom would be taken from you by knowing who is legally in the U.S. and who is here illegally?...

I am probably dumb about this but how are they going to get them to fill the census out truthfully? In my neighborhood, people conveniently 'disappear' when officials are around. The ones that are here legally drastically lowball the number living in their households. It IS on other forms so yes, I would like to see it added back myself.

With the current trend and media frenzy I think people will be afraid to answer though, thinking they will be picked up on some future date. You and I know it's all about districting (cough cough-gerrymandering) and not about making deportation lists but I doubt they will get a 90% accuracy rate.

That's the point I was trying to make above. If the illegals are afraid to answer the census, then the Democrats' plan has failed... they are not counted and the Census will not reflect their existence.

That's the whole point behind this anyway... stopping election fraud.

How is conducting the Census, which has been conducted every decade since 1890, making for bigger government?

The Patriot Act was a whole slew of new surveillance powers and agency expansion. Not exactly an apt comparison.

So what were you so worried about earlier in the thread? What's the precedent that has been set that you do not like but justify anyways?

Completely different scenarios since it is a known FACT that democrats/liberals in power are using illegal immigrants to get more representation. That's what is illegal and really does infringe on the law abiding people in the U.S. since they are not represented fairly because illegals are being used for the left's political ploy to drown the votes and representation of legal residents and U.S. citizens...

Whuh oh. He called Senator Marsha Blackburn of the great state of Tennessee "honey." 7:20 What a misogynous mollycoddler. Did I do it right?

13:20 I like the part where he's listing off numbers. "7000 7008 7017 7024 0732 7044" then "7000 7008 6998 7009 6074." Maybe a cool sample or eight in there.

14:02 "I used to watch it. It'd be like a rocket ship when I put out a beauty. Like when I said, remember when I said somebody was spying on me? That thing was like a rocket, I get a call two- two minutes later: "...did you say that?" I said "yeah I said that," "well it's exploding." It's exploding." -President Donald J. Trump.
Lol awesome quote. I don't know why people think he's a bad orator. He's funny.

20:35 Lol he here he segues right back into his notes after a bout of media trashing.

21:24 "it's very important what you're doing. You're getting the- you're getting, in many cases, the honest word out, not in all cases, but in many cases."

22:20 Plugs his Advancing American Kidney Health EO, see time.com...

Woah, 27:50 a fly flies in his face! he's like "how did a fly get in the White House?" lol

31:27 "Sir the wind is blowing at 70 miles an hour," I said "Boy, it's gotta be- it's gotta be mined." Is he talking about wind turbines?

32:10 Double's down on the Pocahontas nickname.

34:49 "plair- fair" tongue slip. I only mention it because it's really the first significant error of speech I noticed.

37:02 predicts lowering interest rates

37:32 Harmeet Dhillon speaks

41:52 Lila Rose

Then he talks about meeting with the Silicon Valley CEOs, and how the Chinese told him they acknowledge Silicon Valley is hard to beat.

I liked the video.

I was thinking of a possible solution to the social media problem, and Trump even said at least twice that a part of the problem is we give them our data and they make money off of it in exchange for a "free" service. What if there were a law that stated that the proceeds from targeted advertising are owned by the producers of the data. When you sign the TOC you own a "share" of those proceeds. You can opt out, and just use the service like we do now, or we negotiate the terms at the time of signing. It's kind of like, despite having been munged upon by the work product of the service, the data collected from you is intrinsically your's, and you can sell it however you want. This would incentivize the services to maximize the number of eyes that are on targeted advertising because a higher share value means more users making content to munge. We would now have a situation where demonetizing, shadow-banning, and algorithm funny business leads to devalued shares, which means less users, thus less profit. It now becomes a disservice to the CORPORATE shareholders not to maximize content.

One last thing, I keep hearing that the internet is a 'public' forum. Sure, maybe in a library, but if you're alone, at home, and type something into a computer it's not public information until it hits publicly owned equipment, I think. That is to say, before you sign the TOS. And by public, I mean equipment owned by a member of the public. Someone you might want to serve an ad to.

It wouldn't have helped anyway. Every illegal is going to answer "yes" because they don't want to admit they're here illegally and get deported. So the only way to make the census accurate would be for census officials to investigate every single person taking the census, which is logistically impossible.

They have to rely on other means if they want any accuracy at all.

What we need is a federal real ID law. Anyone voting should bring documentation proving they are a citizen. A driver's license and proof of residency. How can we live in a country where you need to show proof of identity to notarize a document, but don't have to show anything to vote?

We can't trust the DMV either, because they're issuing drivers licenses to illegals. NY passed just such a law:
americanmilitarynews.com... clerk-refusing-to-issue-illegal-aliens-drivers-licenses/

So it isn't even enough to pass a real ID law, we would first have to clean house in the DMV and overturn these absurd laws in sanctuary states that extend rights and privileges of citizenship to illegal immigrants.

This isn't something that's going to be fixed with a hand-wavium speech and a little bit of legislation. We have to fix it or the USA will collapse from within like the Roman Empire, and fixing it will involve gruelling legal battles fought in multiple states, and removing corrupt officials from multiple offices, before finally passing a real ID law and actually enforcing it across the whole USA (including especially the sanctuary states!).

TLDR: the census question was a ineffective political farce to make Trump look good, and the proposed alternative isn't any better. This is all crap.

The barbarians have breached the gates, are flooding into the city, Rome is burning, everything is chaos.

The most powerful bureaucrat in the Republic comes up with a brilliant idea:

"Why don't we ask the barbarians if they are citizens? This will fix everything!"

All the sheeple and all of Caesar's men nod their heads in unison and run out to ask the question.

Which you think the left would be for, considering all the whining about Russia the last 2 years. They're only against election interference if it hurts them.

Don't forget, they were whining about Russian collusion while colluding with Russia. That was never about election integrity; it was about the wrong person being elected.

Neither party wants election integrity. They both just want to win at any cost.

That's what makes this move so great. Now no one is being asked anything... they are being verified through official data channels. That will be much more accurate.

And the Democrats really shouldn't be able to complain much without looking terrible for 2020. After all, they were the reason Trump had to take the alternate route. They forced him to do the very thing he wanted to do!
