I haven't been a Republican since Grover Norquist proclaimed, "My goal is to cut government in half in twenty-five years, to get it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub."
I can't fight corporations. I can't fight billionaires. Government is the only force strong enough to keep the cartels and monopolies in check. FDRs words from his 1936 speech really resonate with me:

So when I hear Republicans claim government is the problem it makes me feel like there's no hope. I think the problems in this country are not rocket science. The lobbyists force the politicians to pass laws creating cartels and monopolies in exchange for campaign financing. The lobbyists are owned by the billionaires and CEOs. I can't affort a lobbyist to represent my interests.

I could show you a video on how bad wealth inequality is in this country. Or I could show you graph of the purchasing power of the dollar over the last 30 years. But I am not some naive idiot. NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE. When Trump gave a HUGE tax break to the billionaires and gutted consumer protection laws it was just as I predicted. The same old same old bait and switch feed the swamp BS as usual.
You still seem to place the blame on Reps, it takes Congress to pass bills into law. One single party hasn't screwed this country over, Dems or Reps. Honestly things would be so much better if we could get rid of parties all together and agree/disagree on individual policies.
It doesn't really bother me if Republicans want to destroy our country by letting the corporations turn us all into slaves. It's happening anyway. I think George Carlin said it best. There's a reason. And it's never going to change:
I'd like to see us return to FDR levels of taxation just to confirm the American people are still represented in government. Not that the government needs the money (it could always print more) although it would be nice to have a budget surplus again. No, the only reason is raising taxes back to FDR levels would make Grover suffer anguish like I have suffered with regards to wealth inequality and the purchasing power of my take home pay!
