Indie Filmmakers Detained at Area 51

Two filmmakers, researching for their movie about extra terrestrials, were detained over the weekend by government agents outside the infamous government facility known as Area 51.

PRWEB) March 3, 2005 -- Independent filmmakers Ford Austin and Jed Rowen were driving near the infamous government base known as "Area 51" on saturday night when their car was surrounded by several government employees in uniform. When asked what they were doing at the facility, the two filmmakers claimed to have been researching extra terrestrials and the secret government program that is rumored to be operating at the site. The agents took the two filmmakers into custody until late monday afternoon when they were allowed to leave the base. Austin stated, "We weren't trespassing. We were staying deliberately away from the perimeter fence. It was terrifying! I mean, they put guns to our heads, took our cameras, and threw us into a cage. This definitely means that our film is hitting a little close to the bone". Ford Austin claims that he and his producing partner, Jed Rowen, were attempting to return to an area known as S-4.

"We have been to S-4 once and witnessed the secret 'frankenstein' experiments being conducted there first hand and decided to put it into our film, "Austin said. Their latest film "Cerebral Print: The Secret Files" focuses on the covert experiments being conducted by the United States government. "These guys are trying to keep extra terrestrials a mythological phenomenon," say Austin and Rowen, "but we already have footage of an actual autopsy on an alien where these doctors pull out his brain and dissect it in real time", Austin continued, "It's only a matter of time till our film breaks the mythology wide open!"

Witnesses say that the filmmakers were driven to the edge of Groom Lake, approximately 90 miles from Las Vegas, and then ordered to leave the area immediately. Austin, "They told us not to release our film, so we said 'Screw that, we're going to the papers'."

Area 51 became famous in the late 50's when locals witnessed a U.F.O. crash to the ground. Initial reports and photographs from the government verified that a "manned" alien saucer crashed to the ground with 4 allien creatures onboard, but those comments were quickly amended to claim that the crash was merely a weather balloon. Ever since, Area 51 has been seized upon by conspiracy theorists, documentary filmmakers, ane toursists alike.

Since the weekend, Austin claims he and Rowen have had their home phones tapped and bank accounts frozen.

"Oh yeah. There are unmarked cars parked outside my house right now", Austin exclaimed, "What did I get myself into?"

Ford Austin's movie, "Cerebral Print: The Secret Files", focuses on a secret government facility, it's experiments on extra terrestrials, and the government agents who work there. It is scheduled to premiere at the 2005 Bare Bones International Film Festival in Muskogee, Oklahoma on April 23rd at 10:30pm. Officials at Area 51 could not be reached for comment.

They were attempting to return to S-4??

I find it terribly hard to believe they were ever there in the first place. I wish I could believe their story is real but I seriously doubt it. Does anyone have anymore information on these guys that can lend anything to their credibility?

Well, for starters, even the few sources in the field pointing to S-4, i.e. Lazar and the SOM1-01 Manual and others, ALL state it was for reverse-engineering technology, NOT biologic experiments, etc.

Then of course, we've got these yahoos claiming to have BEEN there, not receiving a smuggled tape, etc. but actually BEING there. Well, anyone who's ever looked at a sat image of the base and surroundings knows that it's well inside the protected area, and the chance these two guys were there is slim and none.....and slim just left town...

Its obvious a work of fiction with a few sprinklings of truth mixed in. I assume these guys actually went to the base limits for some filming, but anything other footage was probably filmed in a basement. It could be a cult hit, who knows, its just too bad they mixed up Area 51 and Dulce.

Sorry but I'm not buying it.

Sounds like a "suave" manner of garnering "hype" and publicity for a film project that otherwise would just fade into the background.

actually was watching a tv show on TLC (for those that don't get that "the learning channel) about the guy tryin to track evertyhing with AREA51,
Not sure how old the show was, but he had a 3d map of the base itself drawn out from a satelite imaging centre.
When he was out of town the FBI came in and "seized" all of his informations, claiming terrorist possibilities.
They actually had a communications expert camp out in the dessert and listen in on radios...

Crap... looks like a bad B grade movie.. have a look at the cast.

Awesome! When I go visit Area 51 this summer I'm going to bring a camera and tape what ever I want. And if they ask me I'll say the same thing these guys told them. I'm not scared. Really, I'm not. They can tap my phones, I really don't care. We have to take a stand somehow.

Yes, Stan's most likely got it right IMO about the real situation now at what once was a base at Groom Lake, and probably more than this...but consider if you will that when a movie like Independence Day is based on insider information of what the base truly looked like--as reported by David Adair this movie was accurate in even minor details, except for the lighting where the movie didn't reproduce the lack of any shadows cast from it--i guess you might say that the folks at Area 51 just decided to move to a better neighborhood?

Because Area 51 publicity has likely already forced a shift into some other truly secret underground facility, now that it's turned into just another tourist trap with aliens lurking all about....
