to Dr. Sus!! The only one that mentioned the Beatles!! And nobody mentioned the Stones!!:bnghd: Everybody knows that they are the greatest ever!!

Now, my personal pick would be Led Zep. Best metal belongs to Slayer. Best Buttrock band...I don't know.

Worst band: Metallica (not the worst, but I hate those sell-out, weiner-puppets) and Grim Reaper (assbutter music). What a bunch of monkeysluts

Ummm, AC/DC Black Sabbath Pink Floyd. just doesn't feel right leaving without mentioning them as great bands.

Has to be Floyd as the Ultimate best in my opinion.

However there are so many great others that have been mentioned. Black Sabbath, The Doors, The Who. Then there is Hendrix as well. The Beatles etc etc

BUT NOT WHAM. :shk: Surely these 2 can't be classed anywhere near the Rock genre.

I don't remember how I got into this site. Anyways I was happy doing it. But now I don't know how to do what and why? Still I am enjoying and have a hope that something will get done somewhere, for the time being the discussion on the best rock group is fine but do we have to really discuss it. good the best is def leppard.

I have to say that the best rock band in my opinion is Guns N' Roses. Although the best metal is Metallica. Def Leppard is the bomb and so is Stone Temple Pilots. However, I HATE NIRVANA!!!! It drives me insane that they are on the Top Ten list on VH1's top rock bands. :bash:

Depends on what you mean by "rock."

These are all influential bands, but they were influenced too.

For me it was probably Green Day. I was 9 when I first listened to Dookie (the major label debut) and I was like " Holy sh*t!! I like every song on this record!" That was something that just didn't happen. Records with just one good song were just a way of life for me. It swept me away from the world of stupid pop forever. It encouraged me to go discover other rock bands, both current and older. But hey, there's nothing like your first.

Best Lead Guitar: Tie: Led Zepplin / The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Best Rythm Guitar: Metallica

Best Use of Percussion: Black Sabbath (original lineup, accompanying w/ Ozzy's lyrics)

Best Bagpipe: AC/DC (hey, I had to fit them in somewhere!

Best Lyrics: The Doors

In 50 years, "Woodstock II" will be generally recognized by sholars as the end of the "age of Rock," and the bifurcation of music into two streams:

a) "pop" which actually serves as a vehicle for teenage girls to writhe around semi-nude on a music video, while selling clothing and perfume to other teenage girls.

and

b) meth-fueled incoherent screaming by dudes dressed in menacing goth outfits, making allusions to satanic practices.

Yep. that pretty much covers it.

Here's the seven lines from "Another Brick In The Wall, Part 1"

Daddy's flown across the ocean
Leaving just a memory
Snapshot in the family album
Daddy what else did you leave for me?
Daddy, what'd'ja leave behind for me?!?
All in all it was just a brick in the wall.
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall.
