According to the article above he was moored off the coast of Venezuela earlier this year so I guess he's somewhat bothered.

The Twitter account from the last day or so is full of interesting answers to a lot of the questions. He and his wife have hired a filmographer or something to jpin them on their "Freedom Boat", and he is recording everything that happens on the boat and is livestreaming it (to a private group i think) for the purpose of "in case anything happens".

I was thinking if they want him that bad they will just interrupt his feed so it goes black and do something so people will think a rogue wave or something got them, or a mysterious "Burmuda Triangle" like incident. A lot of people would be suspicious but...no proof. He seems to be in the area of the Bahamas.

He seems to think his life or freedom is in danger, and, obviously, denies the charges.

I don't know anything about these charges but I will look at the info some of you left.

THANKS to everyone for participating! Everyone in my threads will get at least one star because I will give one to any post that doesnt have one as long as I agree with it 100%, and we all love our stars, don't we, people? That's what it's all about. It's why I wake up every day. STARS.

True and fair enough. But he still posts videos and pictures. I think thats kind of his method. Stay in the public eye via internet as a form of protection. He even has a new show "Kickin It With Da McAfees". Theres been 2 episodes so far I think. This method wouldn't protect him against being apprehended by a law enforcement agency.

But, does the US go out to the Ocean to apprehend criminals? If its a national security threat, I suppose so. I wonder if they now consider him one?

And I guess he figures the US wont cause an incident in Venzualan territorial waters right now. That could be a smart move for him. But how long will this situation last with Venezuala? He will suffer the same fate as Assange with shifting political tides unless he has a plan to escape.

And the question remains, is he a good guy or a bad guy? Its difficult to know who to trust.

31+ terrabytes of incriminating data

That's an awful lot of incriminating data.

Not sure if Mr McAfee has what he says he has but I think his motivation is purely personal , is he still a wanted man ?

I would agree since he said "if im arrested or disappear". Sounds pretty personal.

So, maybe his antivirus was actually a Trojan horse? I think that it's a stroke of genius if it is the case.

I would love to read what he collected. I am sure that his company collected lots of stuff when they eradicated virus from big servers, keeping info in case the fix screwed up some data inadvertently.

I think the same thing about anti-viruses, I don't trust them to not be taking information from my system that they aren't meant to take or said they wouldn't take (in the terms)

I think he thinks he's a guy who's above the law , little people pay taxes not John McAfee.

He reminds me of Charlie Sheen , so busy winning he can't see what he's losing.

Commenting to follow. Been interested in this as well.

Think about what kinds of sites are most notorious for infecting a pc with viruses

The virus scan would pick up on every incoming virus from various illegal activities.

Is there a database for this like everything else in the world?

Interesting. Did he accidentally create a honeypot and did someone else discover it before he did?

I agree. Windows Defender is much better. Less footprint and it's free.

Tweeky McGee found hanging by one leg under a bridge with his head under water.
He was wrapped in barbed wire, badly beaten, and riddled with bullet holes.
Strangest case of suicide we've ever seen.

I know this is sort of hearsay and unverifiable and everything, but quite a while back I was looking into what would be involved with pulling up roots and moving to Central America, like Nicaragua, via various and sundry YouTube videos. Anyway, I stumbled upon one video that was apparently authored by McAfee with him claiming he had fled the country (Guatemala?) and was being pursued by dirty cops that tried to shake him down at his home there. After he refused their "requests", things got real ugly, apparently. He claimed he was running for his life then.

But at the time, not something I was much interested in reading more about, so I didn't pursue it. But it was a bit influential in getting me to thinking that perhaps moving to Central America wouldn't be all that much fun. Anyway, I just found it an interesting memory recall after reading this thread.

Maybe it is still on YouTube, but with all the purges they have gone through lately, likely not. It was several years ago, maybe more, when I was looking.

FWIW....

Next to Nancy Pelosi, McAfee is my favorite crazy person. I don't think he has any credibility. 31 TB? Maybe he has Julian Assonge's database.

Looking at your linked article, it appears that he is not a wanted criminal and only lost the civil case due to his disappearance.

Is it possible the neighbor getting killed was meant to be him? Thus, he took off and hid?

Looks like I found John Mcafee's ATS handle.

He's already outed several dirty agents. This is kind of crazy to see on Twitter. I wonder if his account will be suspended.

That is mighty difficult to believe , isn't it ?
Only for perspective:
I have over 100 modern day games that average 10-15 gb each installed on a PC (most are around 30 gigs)
Total usage ?
Just over 2 Tbs

I agree with you
I also have eye problems
I cannot see that much

The story behind John McAfee in Belize goes something like this:

He was posting on a drug forum, maybe bluelight not sure because I read about this years ago when he was on the run updating a blog about his on the "on the lam" adventure, about working on a "sex drug". It was a chemical from a type of "bath salt" amphetamine or amphetamine-like compound when those were popular before the DEA took it down with a chemical process done to it to make it a bromide is what I can remember.

The story goes that he was doing something drug related whether it was gray area legal or illegal at his beach house there and had some attractive women employed there too until a night guard was found dead on the property, perhaps someone else, you'd have to read up on it. There was supposedly some rudimentary basic (fake) letter left with the guards corpse. There's no telling what sort of #ery was going on but there was a manhunt to apprehende him for questioing.

He fled somewhere with some girl and was updating his blog until he surrendered to the U.S. or was captured and handed over. Never followed it to see what became of it but obviously he was able to run for President afterward so I don't think the authorities wanted him or it had been resolved. Now he's back with new shock factor mental illness driven weirdness and it's always something big for maximum exposure. He's doing a Julian Assange move and claiming to have enough incriminating information to use as a self defense tactic.

Why so paranoid about being arrested? Wtf is he doing to be so afraid? He made an antivirus program; paranoia usually from doing sketchy # on the internet. The only time I ever got viruses was from pirated software or a file to crack a program or operating system to steal it. It could be brain damaged psychosis from the past or intoxication from current use.

Some say it began a week ago Friday when the man who practically invented Internet security, John McAfee, shot his dogs.
McAfee 'frightened for his life'
Others say it goes back to April when police raided his compound on the mainland looking for drugs and guns. They found both but the guns had permits and the drugs were legal. Some say police never got over their disappointment. The Austrian woman I had picked up with my golf cart told me McAfee was trying to make a female version of Viagra.
I'm not in the habit of picking up hitchhikers but it's customary here to give a lift to locals. As they say, "You never know when YOU might need a ride." Judging by the sound of my golf cart, that time wasn't far off.
McAfee lives in the remote northern part of Ambergris Caye, an island 36 miles from the Belize mainland.
