Isn't this coverup of the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty ADM. JOHN S MCCAIN JR told the crew: "I am now an admiral again... If you ever repeat what you have just told me to anyone, I don't care if its your mother, another shipmate, anyone, I will make sure you end up in prison…"

So maybe the McStain clan can celebrate two generations of traitorous semen (sic). Grandad seems legit as far as I can tell from his records.

it seems The same old “we hate Jews” thread with no real explanation as to why this event happened is trotted out over and over.

With the same old, "If you don't support Israel killing people, you must hate Jews" response.

And there are plenty of explanations in this thread alone as to why it occurred, the most likely being an attempted false flag to draw the US into the Six Day War.

Our so called allies showed their true colors on that day!

By that 'logic' we should still hate Japan and Germany,Canada and every other country?

Amiright?

Aww shucks, lets let bygones be bygones.
Germany and Japan were punished.
Was Israel ever punished?

With allies like Israel....

We be pretty sure, any attack alledged to have come from Iran will be done by Israel.

Israel was, and I wonder why people ignore just what the liberty was.

A SPY ship.

Its official designation was a communications ship. It was in international waters where it was ordered to be, without the destroyer escort the captain urgently requested. Its meager 50 caliber guns were no defense against jets and torpedo boats that attacked it.

Yes, Israel intentionally attacked, then said it was "all a big mistake." It was not. We all know that. But as a matter of policy, the US backs Israel. End of story. Any questions?

I have a few:

Why do we back Israel as a matter of policy? Is it because of the money that pro-Israel lobbies dump into political campaigns? Should our foreign policy be dictated by how much money lobbyist pay politicians?

The same old anti Jewish rhetoric
I can draw my own conclusions, I don’t like being told what to think

It seems like the US always want to be drawn into a war, seems like the US would have loved to have got involved

As for reasons, maybe aliens told them God forced the planes, the US ship had the plague, all valid conspiracies in my opinion, but nothing less than conspiracies/reasons

A false flag is the most logical and if so the US would have been behind it

I don’t know but I don’t buy the “hate Jews” propaganda, they have been a pretty solid US supporter in a hostile part of the world for a long time

All said and done, even though the rest of the Middle East hate them, constantly shelled and under constant threat, prefer to live in Israel than any other ME country

Disgusting.

I wonder why the attack of the Liberty is not in our school history books?

The War Crimes Report we filed lists allegations of acts committed during the attack on our ship, including:

The jamming of our radios on both US Navy tactical and international maritime distress frequencies; The use of unmarked aircraft by the forces attacking the USS Liberty; The deliberate machine gunning of life rafts we had dropped over the side in anticipation of abandoning ship; and The recall of two flights of rescue aircraft that had been launched from Sixth Fleet aircraft carriers. After those flights were recalled, Sixth Fleet personnel listened to our calls for help as the attack continued knowing they were forbidden to come to our assistance.” —USS Liberty Veterans Association Website

Because the Jooooooooo's own all the banks and the jewelry stores. If we cut them off, they'd turn off all the ATM's and shutter all the jewelry stores and then we'd be scrooooood.

Plus, where would we ever get a decent bagel with cream cheese & lox, or a righteous fatty corned beef sammy on rye?

We back Israel because they are the chosen people, at least according to fundamentalist Christians and they have astonishing political power.

Isnt it strange how the most vocal supporters of Israel are the most vocal against the welfare state?

Israel has universal healthcare and a generous welfare program for their citizens.
They also get handouts from the American tax payer every year for eternity.
And they get us to fight their enemies for them.

Keep TROLLING.

In May 1968, the Israeli government paid US$3.32 million (equivalent to US$23.9 million in 2018) to the U.S. government in compensation for the families of the 34 men killed in the attack. In March 1969, Israel paid a further $3.57 million ($24.4 million in 2018) to the men who had been wounded. In December 1980, it agreed to pay $6 million ($18.2 million in 2018) as the final settlement for material damage to Liberty itself plus 13 years of interest.[8]

It was acquired by the United States Navy and converted to an auxiliary technical research ship (AGTR),[9] a cover name for National Security Agency (NSA) "spy ships" carrying out signals intelligence missions.

NSA SPY SHIP.

Keeping effing IGNORING it.

The Middle East is a complete waste of time and money. There will never be peace in the Middle East. Israel will never be safe.

I say it's time we stop killing Arabs for Israel. Time to bring the troops home, save some money, and put America first for change!

I guarantee you as long as oil is worth money, oil will continue to flow out of the Middle East no matter who is in charge of the sand people.

It was a tactical move. Israle had no idea what was being done with intel gathered by Liberty monitoring battlefield radio transmissions. As it was they were surrounded and in a fight for survival.

A very good point. I also remember that Germany and Japan apologized and have been paying reparations.

Are you saying that Israel should apologize and pay reparations?

No, of course not. You're one of the folks here who consistently stands on Israel's side, even when paired up against the US. At least you're consistent.

I'll tell you two things I'd like.

I'd like for the USS Liberty to be as well known to Americans as Pearl Harbor. No American, and certainly no member of the US Armed Forces, should say, "What was the USS Liberty?"

Second, every member of the US Armed Forces should be required to sign an informed consent. They should be aware that they may be required to sacrifice their lives for Israel. Further, they should be aware that if they are killed by Israelis that the US Government isn't going to give a flying flip about it. Anyone who doesn't agree to those terms should not be required or allowed to serve in the US military.
