And like you, I appreciate any and all discussions wherein I have the opportunity to challenge and examine my positions. I'm glad others do as well. It's important for our own mental and emotional health, as well as our intellectual honesty.

I have had to look at a couple things in a new light because of this thread. Not necessarily pleasant things, but necessary.

I heard the Straight March actually went ahead, but after my shift it appeared that most of my favorite "right-wing" YouTube commentary had disappeared due to some censorship purge, so details for me are sketchy.

Does anybody have details?

Did 60 percent of single straight guys march apart from the women lest there be post-march accusations of sexual harassment?

Or was it more like a "priest and prostitute" type after-party?

As far as I know, the parade is still tentatively scheduled for the end of August...

I hadn't even thought about charges of sexual harassment... oh dear!

If you are for gay pride you do not hate straight people, you are just proud of yourself and want to be respected for who you are.

If you are for straight pride you are lying because it really has nothing to do with pride. You are a bigoted, homophobic, hater and hiding behind straight pride is proof.

The same way that having a straight pride parade is horrible. It's all intended to be a poke in the eye.

If certain cities hadn't passed SOGI laws making illegal to discriminate based on orientation, and then gone out of their way to be oh-so-supportive of gay pride, this wouldn't be a thing. But if you legally cannot discriminate based on orientation, then you can't. Or are some orientations more special than others? If the city refuses to allow it, then I guess the answer is clear, right?

It is the most epic troll ever, but it follows rules for radicals -- make your opponents live up to their own standards.

SOGI laws demand equal treatment based on orientation, and straight is an orientation. If you are going to allow parades based on someone being gay or trans and fly their pride flag, then turnabout is fair play.

Milo Yiannopoulos named marshal for 'Straight Pride' parade

Right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos has been named the grand marshal for Boston’s "Straight Pride" parade. Organizers announced Friday the former Breitbart editor as the parade's grand marshal after they originally used actor Brad Pitt's name and likeness for the event.

So I'm not sure exactly what Milo will be doing as "marshal," but apparently it's official...

I thought this part was funny:

The head of Super Happy Fun America, a group that "advocates on behalf of the straight community," told the Boston Herald that Pitt “was not super happy” about the group using his name and likeness without his consent.

And a statement from Milo himself, which reads to me like satire, but would seem to be genuine:

“I might technically be a sequined and perfectly coiffed friend of Dorothy’s, but I’ve spent my entire career advocating for the rights of America’s most brutally repressed identity — straight people — so I know a thing or two about discrimination,” Yiannopoulos said in a statement released by the group.

“This parade is a gift to anyone, male or female, black or white—gay and transgender allies, too!—who will stand with us and celebrate the wonder and the majesty of God’s own heterosexuality. Men, bring your most toxic selves. Women, prepare to burn your briefcases! Because it’s great to be straight, and we’re not apologizing for it any more. We’re Here, Not Queer.”

So there it is.

Hmmmmmm... so to take your thought to its natural conclusion, maybe this is even bigger troll than anyone imagines, and the "Straight Pride" parade will actually be their coming out party...

That could be interesting AND amusing!

We do not need any pride festival or history month we need to move forward as humans and realize they only create segregation and bring back violent pasts we all need to just get over everything and realize everyone is equal no matter orientation or color or social stafus and we all need to drop the monetary system if real change will ever happen and bring peace upon this earth
