U.S. Navy pilots and sailors won’t be considered crazy for reporting unidentified flying objects, under new rules meant to encourage them to keep track of what they see
Yet just a few years ago, the Pentagon reportedly shut down another official program that investigated UFO sightings. What has changed? Is the U.S. military finally coming around to the idea that alien spacecraft are visiting our planet?
The answer to that question is almost certainly no. Humans’ misinterpretation of observations of natural phenomena are as old as time and include examples such as manatees being seen as mermaids and driftwood in a Scottish loch being interpreted as a monster. A more recent and relevant example is the strange luminescent structure in the sky caused by a SpaceX rocket launch. In these types of cases, incorrect interpretations occur because people have incomplete information or misunderstand what they’re seeing.

Huh, I'll go you one better:
See: thehill.com...
In that story and from that source, the author is actually suggesting its time Congress investigates the phenomenon and the reason he suggests that's necessary is because, in his opinion, its becoming quite crystal clear that the US Air Force is no longer in control of US airspace.
No that my man is utterly amazing! But full disclosure? Not in my lifetime.

There could be many reasons.
1: they are looking for sightings of their own secret aircraft, to see if any reports of UFO sightings that echo the abilities of their own secret aircraft.
2: They might be thinking these sightings are evidence of a foreign powers' aerial technology.
3.they are looking for blue reptilians from the planet qwopple.
After my sighting two months ago, the two points are the most likely, I live near a military proving ground so any sightings could be recorded by privates etc, and it would be helpful if they knew the UFO was one of their own or some other nations experimental aircraft.
Or maybe they are truly looking for Giant Green rabbitiods, but it's good to see the encouragement of reporting sightings, national security and all.
