This one is about as good as it gets! Doom Porn at its finest. So good is this that few will even notice it for what it is. Read carefully folks, this one has it all. It's got sedition and political activism all wrapped up and masquerading as "journalism". The Associated Press (AP) hits it out of the Doom Porn park with this piece!! Unbelievable!!

Be afraid, people! Be VERY afraid!!

Clarence Thomas is under your bed, lefties, and when it's dark he's gonna...GET YA!!!

The message is clear...you must act! You must take to the streets! There's an election coming, don't ya know! Let me repeat that...THERE'S AN ELECTION COMING, DON'T YA KNOW! Nothing is sacred because...Clarence Thomas! Nothing!

Clarence Thomas...Danger, Danger!!

This probably the best media "spin" and Doom Porn I've ever seen! They've left no stone unturned for the left! This is a call to arms! Everything they hold sacred is at risk!! Be AFRAID!!!

Rainbows and Unicorns...OH MY!

Thomas is a boss. His originalist approach always makes his Supreme Court opinion an interesting read.

I wouldn't label it "doom porn", that gives it more importance than it's worth. It is more like "fear porn".

Isn't that what "doom porn" is?

"Fear Porn"?

They're the same thing...the sky is falling.

Nah.... Fear porn is more soft-core than Doom porn (the hard-core stuff).

It is still ridiculous, just I don't see it having as much importance as you.

Republicans are always outraged by liberal outrage. By choosing to focus on liberal outrage, they in-turn feed the cycle.

Or in other words, fighting fire with fire. It just ends up being a bigger fire in the end.

One or two more liberal judges die off and Conservatives can't be stopped lol. I think that may be the "warning" embedded in the article, I like it :-)

Political advertising for beginners.

1. Use the most unflattering photo of your opponent in Black and White.

2. Insert a monotone and spew enough logistical facts to bamboozle undecided voters.

5. throw in some Machiavellism, after all a fear campaign is a good campaign.

Machiavelli believed people were too stupid to think for themselves, and need someone else to think for them.

Sadly this is now the status quo.

Well I read the article. I found no doom porn. Rather I found just a short bio on Thomas with opinions on how his long tenure might effect the course of the SC decisions in the future. I was hoping to find some real crazy shxt as you seemed sure it was a hit piece on him. I did not see that at all. But you sure made it out to sound that way. Hyperbole to the max.

Or did I read the wrong piece? If not, just quote for me the blatant passages in that article that found so outrageously doom pornish. I will go back and focus on them and the context in which you found them and try to see it from your point of view.

Good points all. I would add though when you suggest that this is ''now the status quo'' I would ask hasn't it always been? If we go back to the writing of the Constitution wasn't the Electoral College established for this very reason, that the majority of the founders felt that the common man was not bright enough to really make decisions for them selves, that they needed more enlightened individuals to do their voting for them?

Or take it back even farther. Have not the masses of people for the most part always let the leaders, the kings, the Pharoahs, the Shahs, the ''whoever the big man is' make the decisions?
