I don't think it's wrong for a government to support a leader who may free the nation from the clutches of a dictator. But hey, that's just me.

He's not crazy, but he is power mad. People tend to not give up power willingly, especially when they have already created an illegal government to maintain it.

He is tasked with maintaining a failed ideology as well. At this point its probably a part of his identity and therefor difficult to let go.

It's just a nice example why the USA representatives should sometimes keep their mouth shut publically until it's time for action. If they wouldn't have made this big announcement before that they support Guaido maybe more of the Venezuelan military would have joined him.

Plus there would now be options to go in other than with a big force.

Oh I agree they are not simple. But it is a fact Maduro formed an illegal government and is preventing the real government from holding new elections.

It's not that simple either, but it's a fact that Maduro shouldn't be the president.

My problem with Guaidó is that I don't see him acting on the people's or the country's interests, he appears more worried as acting as the president to the outside world than worried about doing what the National Assembly planned for him to do with their Statute Governing the Transition to Democracy.

And the fact that he looks like an Obama look-alike doesn't help, but that's a personal opinion.

I am not a Guaido supporter. I want the people to have an actual voice and choose their government. Right now the ball is in Guaido's corner to make that happen, I expect him to do it. By that I mean it is his duty, and if he doesn't, the people should rise against him too.

What most ignore is that for some time Chavismo has been good to people, the soldiers are fed they personally have no reason to change the regime. Those supporting Guaido didn't win over key figures before this. I don't know what he was thinking?
He is maybe counting on Maduro to kill civillians that's why he called them out on the streets. To get Uncle Same to save him?

True. That's an option. If there's a channel of communication to the men directly. Bribing them, unethical, but often effective.
Do we know something about the numbers? Which base and such is supporting whom?

What about special forces? I am a big fan of sabotage.... which would be something the US could be doing in stealth too.
