As we near the Israeli legislative elections next week, PM Netanyahu is said to suggest that following elections (and forming a government headed by himself, the most likely outcome) and the roll-out of the US peace plan, Israeli domestic law will be extended to parts of the West Bank, including some ten settlement blocs, which is tantamount to annexation.

This concerning development is line with predictions made by several analysts , and has been contemplated since Israel occupied Palestinian territory.

In July 1967, Theodor Meron, the Legal Counsel to the Israeli Foreign Ministry (and present Presiding Judge of the Appeals Chambers of the International Tribunals) authored a memo titled "Applying Domestic Law to Occupied Territory." The memo finds international legal fault in applying domestic (Israeli) law to occupied territory, citing the 1907 Hague Regulations and the Fourth Geneva Convention. It also points at the inconsistency of applying Israeli law to oPt with assurances on privileges and immunities provided to third States and UNRWA.

In a few short months Meron will likely witness his advice ignored, as Israel formally annexes occupied territory. Advice he gave at the time that settlements would be in violation of international law has long been ignored.

Simple answer,
Kushner's 'peace plan' is supposed to be enabled around election time. There was supposed to be a grand land swap around Israeli borders, there was supposed to be a pan Semitic peace established with Israel. More like Kushner has pockets to be lined...including his and Donny's..and this Zionist government with an alleged crook already at the helm, to steal Palestinian land..what there is of it that is.
Kind of in your face stuff isn't it?..who does that in-the-face stuff?.

It really does not seem to be a peace plan at all. It’s going to be forcefully imposed on the Palestinian people living in the West Bank. A lot of measures which have took place is making this issue become a reality.

For example the sudden US aid funding and projects getting shut down. The PA has basically went bankrupt. They have only been paying their employees (which is 70% of the Palestinian population) 50% of their salaries. Which has created an economic crisis here in the West Bank the last few months. They are twisting their arm. Most of the population would love for Israel to annex the West Bank and be given the right to work in Israel and have the options that Israelis have. Especially the new generation.

The situation with the Palestinians has been going on for 6 decades now. A two state solution is neither practical, nor possible.

It's time to choose expedience before percieved justice.

Do something, anything. Its better than continuing the hate, and killing for several more generations.

I don't have any great affinity for either side. They are both stubborn in their ideologies, but nothing will change, if something doesn't change.

Well for startes there is the Palestinian British mandate have you ever heard of that? That was between 1920 to 1947. Before that the Palestinian region was controlled by the Ottoman Empire... you can’t erase history.

The British Mandatory Palestine..it was caused to exist, as was Israel in a kind of default..when the Zionists copped on..er um, since the British had already..in 1917 formalized support for a Jewish state in the Balfour declaration.
Zionists would take advantage much later when they did antics like blowing up the King David Hotel killing many, and disguised as Arabs, it's all history..and it's all bullshiite too..except for the innocent death count.

Perhaps you should actually read about what I wrote means. You trying to deny the existence of a place is exactly what the Zionist machine wants. They have you wrapped around their fingers. Completely in denial and brainwashed.

Exactly. Ppl shouldn't dwell on things that went down over a century ago. Learn from it, yes, but don't dwell on it.

The entire world has changed since the British empire dominated. Let's move on to the future, as it relates to the current situation.

What happened in the Golan Heights was after driving out most Syrians, 130,000 during six day war 1967, leaving 7,000; then Israelis destroyed over 100 villages and farms, leaving six villages.

1981, Israel began offering Israeli citizenship to the Syrian Druze. Since 2012 many more are accepting it.

reference: wikipedia: Golan Heights #Syrian_villages

It seems that if Israel wants to do to the West Bank what they did to the Golan Heights, they should be offering citizenship to Palestinians.

Completely agree with you buddy. This post was not about dwelling on the past what so ever. It was actually about current events. Until Another member decided to try to derail the conversation by asking a stupid question.

1)I dont think you know the term "Zionist"
2)Zionists had absolutely nothing to do with the creation of the nation of Israel or the cession of a part of Israeli territory to the Palestinians

From what I have been reading lately it’s actually being considered. To give 2.6 million Palestinians in the West Bank Israeli citizenship.

except for the innocent death count

And the refugees held in perpetual stateless limbo with no enforcement of right of return.

Right of return for some, but the ---- with the others.

I understand.

That tends to happen in threads of a political, or religious nature.

Unfortunately, most ppl can't get past percieved wrongs of history. That's the single biggest obstacle of progress in so many situations.

It’s really quiet unfortunate.

If people could get past perceived wrongs and just look back at history as a lesson maybe we would not be having this discussion at all. But people cling on to the past and forget to look for a better future.
