Saw this pic on an online antigun article the other day.

See if you see anything odd about the gentlemans setup.

Its an associated press stock photo.

I see good trigger finger discipline, but That Eotech should be back on the receiver and the user has a standard capacity magazine. Is there something else we’re supposed to clue into?

Other than that, it looks like a common use AR-15 rifle with a common use magazine.

Could this be in reference to the recent ruling in California that said limiting magazines to 10 rounds is unconstitutional?

He has a wedding ring on.

So you’re saying he’s not a smart dude?

ETA: Or maybe that’s why he’s got the gun.

Yes i know what a stock photo is.

The article isnt really important. And this pic shows up in quite a few articles if you reverse image search.

I posted it for gun aficionados to get a laugh from.
Nothing more. Nothing less.

Nothing wrong with that setup.

It's common to have back-up iron sights when using a powered optic, and you can use them together like you see in the pic.

That's an EOTech 512. It's installed correctly, if a bit forward.

AR isn't a platform I'm familiar with... Where's the uhh, bolt?

The bolt is locked to the rear.

Some people go all wonky about mounting an optic on the forward handguard because it moves around a bit on the barrel. For long-range accuracy you place the optic on the top of the receiver. But 99% of the people with these things are not snipers; they're plinking beer cans and paper targets inside of 50 yards.

Yeah, some folks spend stupid money on stuff like Eotech and then fail to use it to its full potential, but it's mostly for fun anyway. They played COD as a kid and they think they're an operator. The forward sight looks like it's on backwards, but if it's working for that person--so be it [shrug]

There are lots of goofy people doing lots of goofy stuff--myself included.

I thought that when you use that type of a "optic", you dont use a back sight...you Definitely dont use a front sight... do you?? It doesnt even look like the back sight is aligned properly with the "optic" but cant see from this angle...

Looks like the bolt is locked open, the sights are set up incorrectly, and he has a empty Magpul 30 round mag in his Smith & Wesson copy of an M4.

Yep, its a little nit picky, but that eotech would be much better off on the upper, the front sight is on backwards,
But is also plastic. And its mounted on the gas block.

Looks like the mag is empty, so the shooter is posing, could have closed the dust cover to at least make it less obvious.

Wouldnt mind having his optic though.
