You're right, of course. It's just a simple point of fact that racial segregation, race nationalism, and racism in general should be opposed at every corner. You're also right that many people are selective with whom they apply these principles. The irony is they do it for racial reasons.

They didn't stop people from being able to comment on posts, they just want posters to be black. If the subbredit is self defined as representing black social accounts (it's not restricted to tweets), than is it a wild leap to ask that people who are black bring them forward?

There are Japanese Subreddits that as you would expect are in the Japanese language, that in itself weeds out people who don't speak their language. If you take the time to learn their language I bet they'd be OK with you chiming in. Is it wrong for people to have their space for talking about things they can relate to?

I'd be willing to bet they have a small minority (in BPT) of people who don't like whites, I bet most are indifferent and judge people on their character. I bet that 99% of them don't only stay on r/BlackPeopleTwitter, and like me, explore much of Reddit.

Why does it bother people that sometimes people want a place to go to basque in their own culture?

Why do you want to post in a black cultured sub? Why would you want to post in a self defined Japanese sub if you're not Japanese.... You can comment, but not post, why is that bad.

It would appear their scumbag racist subreddit has been shut down. I've noticed it's been down for an hour or more. The crap I read on there was disgusting.

Agree with this entirely

Any time these pathetic ideologies rear the ugly heads they should be opposed vehemently. It is one of the reasons I get upset when someone tries to conflate being a nationalist with vile "white supremacy" or goofy "white separatist" movements. Separation or judgement of people based on race is just wrong, and it is in no way an indicator of who someone is as a person

As a nationalist, my only interest is in seeing my country thrive and all of the people here being successful. All of us! Race blind. Sure, be proud of our heritages but the most important heritage we have is that we are Americans (most of us) and countrymen/women... and to me at least that goes far beyond things like race, sex, religion and so on

In any case, I still hold it has to be some Berkley antifa white chick running that group. From what I've seen, Far left ladies of Berkley support a new form of segregation - on the interviews by Jesse Watters with a bunch of college age students, white liberal females supported having "separate graduations, living arrangements and even classes" for black students. Give me a break! People out there actually thought this was a good idea

Screw segregation. I lived through the time of hearing democrat George Wallace try to block young Black Americans who were trying to go to school and get an education, and I listened (AM radio) proudly as the National Guard was federalized and ordered to escort these fine young students to class. It is a shame they needed a military escort just to go to school, but damnit if George Wallace didn't step aside

I think it is sad we still have to have this conversation with these folks today, and with the party that purports to oppose racism but only when it is convenient for them! Abortions, as just another example, will disproportionately affect Black Americans. We oppose this for numerous reasons, but mostly because every American regardless of any factor deserves a chance to enjoy the blessings of our hard fought/hard won liberty

This? I don't care about what some people do on the Internet.. just speaking of segregation in general. The very concept of separating people by race is abhorrent

If someone wants to create a group and limit access based on ethnicity, I would say it is a dumb move in my opinion but has no real impact on anybody unlike segregated schools, segregated neighborhoods, etc

I should have probably specified I was speaking in general and not necessarily at the Reddit group. I still contend it is most likely some left wing Berkley white female behind it They are the ones generally driving these wedges between us. In the United Republican party, for example, Black people, White people, Asian people, Hispanic people are all unified before our flag, our constitution and our love of this country

The comments I read within the posts of this subreddit were very hate filled towards white people. That's the part I have a problem with. They can have a black people group but I don't think reddit should allow the hate speech and it appears they are not going to.

Just a PSA:

It is now a completely private community, which is sad, it was one I liked looking at, and this just happened as during this thread I visited it to look at what was going on.

I think that is bad for a few reason, but the main one is it's going to stir up harmful debate and also cut off access to people sincerely just trying to see things from their perspective (me).

This does start to lean more towards segregation which I argued it didn't earlier, but it was still open for people to view.

I do understand the argument people have that if a self proclaimed whitepeople subreddit made you prove you were right, it would stir outrage... And it would, and that's a valid point.

Supposedly some are saying on reddit that the mods were having a hard time trying to trim out racist remarks, I don't know the validity of that, it is hearsay.

As always... I'll eat crow and admit when I'm wrong, so that's why I chose to bring this new development to everyone's attention.

That said, I don't know their reasoning, and I'm not offended by it... It is what it is.

I can only speak as a woman. We have had to fight so much against [what is now perceived as] sexism that women are now allowed to do what they despised in men.
I see loud hen-parties grabbing half naked guys, going 'phwoarr', looking at their bits, shouting 'take it off' etc.

Let me be clear, as a civilised and equal woman this embarrasses me. I don't need anyone to suddenly tolerate our bad behaviour just because we used to be oppressed. That behaviour alone, is shameful for anyone.
When it got better with men acting more appropriate, that should have been the new normal now.
But apparently formerly oppressed people can behave in the same way and nobody bats an eyelid.

I am also ashamed when [because we used to be oppressed] women are suddenly cast as 'majic-wimmins' in all films. By that I mean they are 5 foot 1 yet kick a bunch of russian killer gangsters with shoulders like a brick poop house to oblivion. They behave like guys in some films and I don't want that. It's not tolerant it's insulting. I want women to be shown as normal women. Some can fight a bit but are not Arnold Schwarzenegger, some are witty, others are cool but don't exaggerate them into something we are not in general.

The same for black folks.
Just because you had it bad should mean that the bad behaviour was no good. Why suddenly adapt and use it?
Maybe the bad behaviour wasn't so bad after all if formerly oppressed people can now do it.

That's some frigging mixed messages there.
All I can say is, if black people/women can adapt bad behaviour and it is hailed as their right, I don't see why everyone else should miss out.
Go on men, give us women a whistle and a grab and whites, form your own groups and exclude blacks.
Anything else is hypocrisy...

...or don't accept bad behaviour from anyone. So simple.

Don't feel too bad CS, at least you have the integrity to present information that both supports and opposes

I think the separation is a bad idea, personally, and some of the individual users were saying some pretty dumb things (could be agitators as far as any of us know) but I too am sorry to see this happening

thankfully the actions of a few people can not nor should ever be allowed to speak for a group as a whole. I'm personally not offended by this either, but the point of having a "white only" reddit would be considered as an offensive move with racist overtones and I do feel the same way about these remarks. That being said, I am all for free speech and free choice so if there is a group of people out there who think they are better off having a private community than more power to 'em. Of course I would say the same thing about a white only, asian only, hispanic only, Martian only group as well I think those would all be bad ideas too

Now if someone made an "Americans" group I would probably join up with it myself

(I personally never grow tired of the taste of crow, eaten plenty of that myself !)

The problem for me is the shoe being on the other foot.
I'm okay with Black only groups, Chinese Only this, and Jewish only that. Gay groups, trans clubs, whatever.

I take offense at these things as:
I am racist if I create a Caucasian only group of some form.
I am sexist if I create a men's only club.

If a woman can join my gym why can I not join hers?

For what its worth, I think it was extremely well stated and spot on

I wish those who preached for true equality among all of us really meant and put those ideals into practice. It is a wonderful concept and I think those you described do it a disservice, and something so many cut their teeth fighting for over the past century

As a whole, I personally think our nation has come such a long way and abolished or corrected so many of the moronic and objectively wrong practices/beliefs from the past

Any more, it is almost like some folks use it as a way to drive a wedge between us to divide and conquer for their own various agendas
