This sounds so stupid but i figure there has to be a way so here goes.

Is there any way to stop birds from making nests in this one tree and chilling all day?
better yet i would like to stop them from going in that tree at all.

i dont know what kind of tree it is or what kind of birds. northern Ohio.

cutting it down or facing it off or whatever you call it is not an option.

i need a scarecrow for birds.

is there anything like that that i can put up now while the tree is still bare?

maybe spay it with some eagle piss or something?

these birds crap all over my car every damn day and it is getting ready to start.
lots of other trees around and they can have at it.

a good start would probably be my wife not feeding them anymore.

so there it is

Hang some cats in the tree...

No seriously...hang some old cd's (or dvd's..lol) on the branches with some fishline. They turn in the wind and the reflections scares them..

Good luck

Peace

Ahahaha, good luck TST, birds do whatever the hell they want and give us the finger. The best thing to try is a decoy owl, but my neighbors have several of those in their bigger hedges & shrubs trying to dissuade wrens and other small such from nesting. It doesn't work, they nest anyway.

Most logical course of action is to do what my husband ended up doing at work after finding out his favorite shade tree to park under was also the favorite spot to sit in for the birds -- park elsewhere and walk a little further. Or buy a monthly unlimited pass to the car wash, your choice.

If she quits feeding them they will just go away. If you tell her she can't feed them, she will just make you go away.

The fake Owls do not work, birds are not dumb, it will possibly keep some that do not come around from staying away, but the ones always coming know it is fake.

A hawk/owl figure works for a time... you have to move it every week or so.

In my orchard once things start fruiting, I hang CD-Roms from a bit of fishing line. The wind rotates them and the birds (especially crows) seem to hate them.

Sparkly metallic ribbons hanging up they don't like too much either.

A friend of mine that lives in town and didn't think his neighbors would like the garish look of hanging CD-Roms and sparkly ribbons uses a motion-detecting water sprinkler... it detects the motion of the birds and squirts the tree.

Off-hand, that's all I know of for birds in trees... a wildlife management person from your local BLM would probably know more.

Hope that helps..

We tried one once.... sparrows and swallows didn't like it, crows and magpies didn't care.

It gave us a chickadee infestation though... they loved it.

Perhaps it was just the brand...

I've noticed that in a lot of big cities they keep pigeons away from businesses (especially in tourist areas) with a recording of hawk noises that goes off intermittently through a speaker mounted on the roof. I've also noticed a lot of auto dealerships use them as well.

I've actually never used these devices and instead put out bird feeders to attract them.
