Did people ever actually believe that Fox News was some kind of bastion of conservatism?

In the wake of all the shock and butt-hurtedness surrounding Fox News' hiring of Donna Whats-her-name, this observation may seem to some to best fit in one of the related threads, but I think it bears its own line of discussion.

I am astounded that anybody ever thought that Faux News was ever anything but a money making racket. Fox news has never been about conservativism" or promoting conservative values or a right-wing political agenda. Anybody who thought so has been duped. The outlet has provided an alternative revenue stream for Rupert Murdoch's business from people of a conservative bent who wouldn't have listened to the likes of CNN and MSNBC. In other words, ol' Rupert has been milking you people.

It has served to keep the contrived war between "left" and "right," "liberals" and "conservatives" raging, the product of which has been deeper division in society and more control for the powers that be. The right has been manipulated by Fox News just as deeply as the left has been manipulated by the "liberal" outlets. Blind moral outrage has been the end goal of the propaganda stream from both sides, and it only benefits the people who want control. As a wise man once said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand.

Conservatives rant about how CNN and MSNBC are propaganda outlets. My friends, Fox has been just as much of one; the difference has been that been telling folks on the right end of the political spectrum what they wanted to hear while the other outlets told people on the left end what they wanted to hear.

If any of these recent occurrences (the firing of Judge Whoozit, the hiring of Donna What's-her-name, etc.) is a surprise to you, I hate to clue you in on the fact that you have asleep for the last several years. You have been owned. Consider this a wake-up call!

FoxNews hiring Donna Brazile isn't a "shocker" as much as retaining Sheppard Smith has been. The bombs thrown at him in conservative forums over the past year have been epic.

It's already widely known that Brazile lacks integrity. Hiring her will do as much for FoxNews as hiring Michael Avenatti did for CNN. Which is, hurt the network's reputation more than help it.

Not a shocker to me. Not a shocker to you. But from what one hears in the general public discourse, it is for a lot of folks.

"Did people ever actually believe that Fox News was some kind of bastion of conservatism?" Nope. The place is bought and sold like the rest.

It probably depends on the level of sophistication with these matters. People who follow MSM closely are not shocked. To them, it's purely a revenue-boosting move.

You mean the massive media network is in it for the money?

I'm just dumbfounded right now. Absolutely cannot believe someone would take profit over being the platform for one political party. I'm glad you woke me up. I love it when people tell me I've been asleep and I need to wake up, it's the first way to get me to pay attention to them and buy into everything they're selling.

This is the general consensus amongst most conservatives who follow MSM trends.

Trump endorsed and I guess somewhat does?

It was a bandwagon thing to be honest. Fox has always been terrible, just like cnn, and MSNBC, and the like. But I do find it interesting how you do side by side comparison of cnn and fox, it's like two different worlds.

I used to buy three news papers, split with my coworker. He liked the tabloids, I liked the more liberal, but the conservative used to be the forgotten one. It was just meh, it wasnt passionate enough for us. Same stuff, just in a different tone. Boring.

Times have changed since then tho. Both sides are passionate and stray further from one another. Its exciting, but it's also hard to follow.

Don't think there's any reason to meltdown over this.

I'm sure you'll still be able to tune into fox news to get your daily confirmation bias fix.

Pretty sure this could have been a comment on the other thread instead of wasting electrons on a new thread. Good luck with the s and f s.
