I had an argument with someone over which is worse healthcare premiums or federal taxes. She said federal taxes. I said healthcare because healthcare has gone up 15% to 20% per year for 30 years. It doubles every five years. Health insurance premiums, copays, and threshold deductions are skyrocketing faster than any other expense.

I HATE THE COST OF HEALTHCARE IN THIS COUNTRY MORE THAN ANY OTHER THING!

Ever since the ACA, I can't tell the difference. Healthcare is now so out of control expensive you can't afford to see a doctor without health insurance- and in many cases even with it's too much. ACA threw cost of health insurance way out of control.

My employer actually counts what they pay towards Social Security a "benefit", and including health insurance their view is that they pay me nearly 20% more than my w2 sees because of these nonsense extras. Of course, Taxes take 30% of what my w2 sees before I see a dime- so if I don't ever need to actually SEE a doctor or have any medications, the taxes are far more expensive.
Of course, one trip to quick care will very quickly cost several months worth of taxes.

Guess it just depends on your income bracket.

How about if people stopped being sedentary bags of gas and s# and at least made an attempt to live a healthy lifestyle?

Costs are outta control because the government subsidized your fat ass.

I agree with OP. I was doing similar or better than my parents at my age until ACA was passed into law. Obama care has taken me from upper middle class to middle class in the last 3 years. Before the ACA, my health care cost for my family were not much. Now they seem to take any extra income we ever have in many different areas. Now for me that is mostly bad luck due to a car accident and an actual health condition happening within 6 months of eachother.

But still, its amazing how these insurance companies bonded with politicians and got away with this.

The best thing is for how years the Republicans ran on revoking it only to do nothing when they had total control. What a bunch of miserable jerks they all are. Every one of them.

And screw the Democrats for "coming up with it" in the first place.

Oh, I love paying more now, and even more with my new job, cause the insurance premiums are based on age. I pay as much for 2 people, as a guy 15 years younger, with a family of 4.
It makes me giddy with happiness!

Now that I'm done being sarcastic?

F the insurance companies. I am healthy!
If our politicians really worked for us, they would stop this, not make it worse.

I really want the government not to help me anymore. They're not very good at it.

Lol, I could probably curl you with one arm.

Where's my discount?

I'm getting hosed because I'm self-employed.

I posted this in your other similar thread ( I am glad you are bringing this to light- however many times it takes).

"Thanks for bringing this up, I am going to rant on your rant. My Husband just got a new job, better pay BUT(it is a start up company with a small amount of employees). The insurance offered is $1,000.00 a month( yes, one thousand a MONTH) for a deductible of $5,000.00 per year. It has no office visits- everything to deductible before insurance pays. It comes with a FSA that you can contribute pretax dollars to. OH JOY- what a crock of poop!!! Basically for our family this is just like here have $12,000.00 for absolutely nothing and let me pay for our occasional doctors visit- there is just no value for us.

This is the current plan we are on (recently quit job) which we can pay COBRA style and hope and pray the new employer can get better insurance as the company grows. We rarely use our current health insurance; which costs $600.00 per month for my daughter and I (Husband was covered for no cost-employer paid for his portion. On this plan it is. $1,000.00 deductible for year, office visit coverage, and then 80/20. That is still freaking ridiculous!

Before obama and congress got involved; insurance was much less. I knew when Obama came out of the meeting with the CEO's of the insurance companies about obama care(before it was passed by congress) that we all need some serious lubricant because we were going to it get up the a$$.

I voted for Obama the first time. I now believe that he is the worst President in my lifetime. No other President has affected our bottom line like he has."

When you add state sales taxes you pay on goods and services, federal income tax, property tax, not to mention the tax on your electricity bill, cell phone bill etc. it is insane. The last thing needed was this astronomical health insurance costs.

health care isn't the problem.

the problem is health insurance and law suits against health care providers.

Government makes things affordable and pretty soon, no one can afford it.

This is a pattern.

Then people are dumb enough to demand more government to "fix" a problem government created to start with.

We really are stupid people.

When the capitalist make health care a for "profit" enterprise, along with the entire medical industry, parma, insurance and all medical facilities. And you thought competition would keep the costs down?

Explain to me how lasik keeps getting cheaper again?

Oh ... that's right. Since it's elective and not something insurance or government will pay for and cover, it's strictly market based, meaning only for profit, so in order to make money, they have to keep finding ways to reach new markets (i.e. find ways to make it affordable to more consumers at lower price points).
