Any conversation about gun violence that doesn't address the base causes for gun violence are, IMO, useless.

Things like drug decriminalization, violence in our media, education, mental health etc must be addressed.

Yeah, but then you start bringing up a bunch of other elephants in the room that no one wants to talk about.

It is much easier politically to talk about "assault rifles" and background checks than to really understand the issue in detail.

More disputes in KY will be solved with gunfights

That's what they said when Illinois passed the Concealed Carry law.

Didn't happen.

Exactly. The threat that someone MIGHT have a gun on them is enough to stop people from starting fights and other shenanigans.

In addition, most (as in 80%+) is gang violence anyway, so it had nothing to do with CCW and law abiding citizens regardless. It isn't like gang members are going to go out and get a FOID card and take a class.

That's just like, your opinion man.

The state does not keep records of when they fire their weapons, how often they do it, or if they wound or kill someone.

Good ... there's no reason you can legally own a item but not be legaly allowed to put it in your pocket

Baning guns won't stop or limit mass shootings just change the weapon and if that change is to poison fire or explosives things start getting a lot worse

If the time ever comes where they start using more effective weapons where all going to wish they where still just shooting at people

Why do so many people think that this is a bad thing?
The criminals will always have and carry their guns but people are worried about people who follow the law having a way to protect themselves.
People who go through the process of buying a gun legally aren't the ones who we need to worry about.
I don't think this law lets criminals carry guns but the anti gun crowd can't grasp that concept.

Lets (hypothetically) say Criminals killed 100 people the previous year with guns. During the next year, (since they've relaxed CCW permit laws), 12 folks stop bad guys with their CCW (bringing the yearly total down to 88 people killed by bad guys with guns). During the same year, accidental deaths from guns go from 250 to 300 with the relaxing of CCW laws (so a net increase of 50 more innocent people killed from guns).

So, yes, I can see the appeal to baser instincts wherein people like feeling powerfully able to protect themselves, but the net aggregate of more guns is more deaths (and the preponderance of those are accidental/innocent deaths).

That's why I (and I suspect some others) view more guns as a bad thing.

Ky is the 16th state to no longer require a permit.

Did gunfights go up in the other 15 states?

Probably.

LMAO! Well that settles that!
