I see we have two possibilities

1) before trump ran for president, he wasn't a racist and the Dems are saying it now for political reason. Even if it does hurt america
or
2) Trump was a racist but he kept his mouth shut.

We all know Trump never keeps his mouth shut, so I will go with number 1

Politico Link

Harris, Booker and Gillibrand — along with Joe Biden, John Kerry and Terry McAuliffe — all share a common bond of receiving Trump family donations, adding another wrinkle to a crowded primary where candidates are expected to trumpet their distance from the president.

This doesn't phase me a whole ton. They aren't still taking donations (at least from this article's info). Trump wasn't in the political ring at that time.

I question why Trump donated to people he currently denounces just as much as I question why any Democrats accepted a donation from someone they currently denounce.

Trump wasn't a racist until he upset the Democrat apple cart.

Any businessman tends to throw money at both sides of the isle. Being in the northeast, you really only have Democrat politicians to support. For example, here in Chicago, Democrats run everything. Even if you are a Republican, you still will throw some cash at Democrats as they are the ones who will be in power, so you might as well try to support the ones will do the least damage.

He's always been a racist. He's just always been relatively a nobody and nobody cared about his racist tendencies apart from the many people who sued him and his businesses about it.

Follow the money and the lawsuits and you can track back his racism to where it originated, his dad Fred, a well-known and well-sued racist.

Edit: Fun fact - did you know Fred's middle name was Christ? Just plain Christ. It seems narcissism and megalomania run in the family.

They did indeed recieve donations from The Donald, and from Jarvanka, too !
There were at least two, though (from memory), 1 was Harris and maybe Booker
In both cases: they donated the money to their favorite charities...

So sins of the father are the standard now? So we should hold Al Gore to the same standard since his dad was an actual racist Dixiecrat senator?

By the way, anyone in real estate in the 70s has been sued for racial discrimination whether legit or not.

I work in real estate now and lenders, developers, etc are constantly being sued over bunk claims.

You're conveniently ignoring half of what I said in order to fit your point in, wrongly. You should listen better, grasshopper.

Donald Trump’s long history of racism, from the 1970s to 2019

Starts here in 1973...

1973: The US Department of Justice — under the Nixon administration, out of all administrations — sued the Trump Management Corporation for violating the Fair Housing Act. Federal officials found evidence that Trump had refused to rent to black tenants and lied to black applicants about whether apartments were available, among other accusations. Trump said the federal government was trying to get him to rent to welfare recipients. In the aftermath, he signed an agreement in 1975 agreeing not to discriminate to renters of color without admitting to discriminating before.

Got sued by the Nixon administration, of all of them.

You conveniently missed the point. So are we to now hold people responsible for what their parent's did or allegedly did?

Secondly, getting sued for bunk claims is a cost of a business. He did not have to admit guilt. It is cheaper to just pay to make them go away. Given the time period, his dad probably was racist just like Joe Biden's dad, Hillary's dad, or any other white man during that time period.

I work in lending. I see it all the time. You get these specious claims of racism with zero proof and banks just settle as it is cheaper in the long run.

Finding Racism Where there Isn't Any

The above gives you an idea of the shotty data and claims used to bring suit...

Honestly Vox is trash, these are the guys that say Pewdiepie is a nazi, I'll skip past that and strip away their opinion and go to the source they use, which states that there was no admission of guilt from Trump, and the agreement reached between Trump and the government was not an indication of guilt. Trump claims he didn't want to have unemployed people in his properties, and his company publicly said they were happy with the new agreement since it didn't try to force that.

Trump dated a black woman who said she never heard or saw anything racist in the two years they were together, he deported an ex-Nazi camp guard, made MLK's birthplace a national historic park, pardoned Jack Johnson, granted clemency to Alice Johnson, has Jewish grandchildren, kissed the western wall, established Opportunity & Revitalization Council to restore black neighbourhoods, signed major criminal reform bills, loaned his jet to Nelson Mandela, recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moved the embassy, he oversaw the lowest black unemployment in history, got a lifetime achievement award for paving a way for blacks to enter corporate America.

Against these facts you offer mostly accusations. The Vox trash article you are putting forward calls him racist for not wanting a mosque at the 9/11 site. For firing a black guy (the article says it was because he was over educated) because he achieved nothing even though he was well educated. They mention his weaponization of paid adverts against rival casino owners who happen to be natives, like money isn't the motivator. Trump said something like Japan is “stripping the United States of economic dignity", wow so racist.

I think that Trump is an asshole, not a racist. I disagree with your source. It's like when the media tried to say he was sexist for the things he said about women, as though he didn't say equally bad or worse things about men. The guy is an asshole and has probably trashed blacks, latinos, rich, poor, pretty much everyone at some point. And I honestly don't care. This list pretty much just exemplifies Hanlon's razor, the writers are looking at the worst possible interpretation of every incident and people with confirmation bias just drink it down like piss in a desert.

But in December 2017, Gillibrand gave the $5,850 away to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network after Trump tweeted that she “would come to my office ‘begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them).”

Not all of Trump’s donations as directly reflected angling for his self-interest. He gave Biden, then a senator from Delaware, a $1,000 gift in 2001.

I'm leaning towards hes not racist.

But I'm also leaning towards he is more in focus on keeping his I guess 'bloodline' white.
He also (and evidently in his most recent speeches) has been trying so hard to not look racist by choosing his basically token black guy thing.

The man adores public relations, almost worships it. I can bet if you scour through his library you'll find books on it. Which gives me a bit of doubt. But then again, it's hard to tell when someone is racist but isnt outspoken about it.
