Now the suns coming out in Southwest Michigan I hope that's a good sign but the gust seem to be picking up. 9000 Out they say.

Cable internet might be having issues. Steady 36 MPH from the west Gust 55. I lied now it says 61 MPH Gust

Holding up fine in the Grand Rapids area. Had to buy a new couch yesterday, but mis-measured the living room and had to go back in today to swap the couch and loveseat out for less bulky items to plop our asses on if we still wanted to walk between furniture.

Plenty of people out and about, restaurants getting a good clip of business over in Grandville. Cant see the road or other cars (let alone the lights) worth a damn now and then in the gusts & snow, but people ARE out there. And nobody seemed like it was any big deal, just another day in Michigan kind of attitude.

Wind gust did catch the car door as I was getting in the car and slammed it on my leg. That's gonna leave a mark...

Power's still on around us for now, but that could change any time. Got a steak out to thaw and some pre-made rice in the fridge for dinner in case we need to manually light the stove and pan-fry the steak & heat the rice for dinner if the power goes. For now, it just sounds like an unending freight train outside with the wind.

You're kind of like a heads-up for those of us north of you. I'd check the NWS page for GR, but it keeps getting slammed (or so I gather, verrrrry slow to load) I'd imagine our winds and gusts are within 5 or 10 of yours.

Just went to the beach the waves are crazy big breaking on the ice shooting 40 feet into the air.

Lots of power out but we're fine so far about a quarter mile from the beach

Michigan road conditions. Lots of cameras and the snow plows have cameras. The UP is getting hammered with a blizzard. Click on snow plows or cameras to see

12,500 without power as the temps drop with the sun. Went to the beach to watch the sunset, tried to take pictures but the sand and ice blowing was worse than earlier!..

Going to be a cold night for lots of people.

It is really windy and icy here in Wisconsin. There was a terrible 40+ car pile up earlier today with one fatality. The wind, icy and drifting snow is a problem. It was hard to keep the car on the road driving home from wrestling tournament today. Stay safe. Is this the beginning of the next mini ice age?

Aaaaan my power just winked off and on. It's a bit more likely to go out entirely now that it's done that much.

Not far from me. If you watch the DOT video people were driving way too fast when the pileup occurred but that's nothing new for highway 41. I heard some counties in Western Wisconsin are pulling their snowplows because of the conditions. We're getting gusts in the mid 50s here in Appleton as of 6PM. Seems like it's getting stronger.

Well not the rain they first called for but they revised it Saturday. So maybe 1/2”-1”

The winds today were spot on with locally about 58mph gust recorded and I think well over 65 north of here. Power winked for second between 6:30-7:00 am.

Not too many new sticks in the yard. But the outdoor cats were very talkative today letting me know it was super windy and scary. Expected wind chill tomorrow morning is to be about 0-2 F with negatives further north like Greenville and Celina.

Well, so far so good.
They're keeping the Wind Warning up for several more hours, but it seems the outages are not as great as the storm 2 years ago.

In fact, in the DTE area, some places on the map have had power restored already!
A wonderful thing.

Same for us, we had some flickers after the quick off/on deal, but that was it. It seems we're not losing power after all, we're past the worst of the wind now.

Last time I checked Consumers a while ago, there was around 50,000 customers without power. All things considered, that's really not that bad. After the ice storms earlier this month, there was at least 150,000 Consumers customers without power (though I'm lowballing it because I can't remember if it cracked 200k or not now)

Considering that, yeah, I think most would agree this was a breeze (no pun intended) compared to a few weeks ago.
