You know, it's odd... I had an experience with an owl when I was about 17-18 years old, and when I revisit it, it seems out of place.
I was a senior in high school and my parents had just built a new house outside of town on a man-made lake, still in development. I moved in to take
care of the place while my parents lived in town at the old house to take care of all the crap we accumulated.
I drove home one day and decided to drive around the dirt road surrounding the lake to smoke a cigarette. As I was driving, I rounded a bend to be met
by an enormous owl in the middle of the road. This thing was about three feet. I stopped my car and we just stared at each other for a good 10
seconds, but it seemed much longer. Then the owl spread it's wings and flew over my car. No joke, this owls wingspan was the width of my car.
I didn't think much of it rather than it was a cool experience. But later as I researched the owls in the area, nothing like that exists here. Not
even close.
I've had friends with fascinations about owls, but now I a have a fascination of my own. Being quite nocturnal myself, owls have a place in my heart.
