A recent Coast-To-Coast show featured a segment on owls and UFO or alien sighting and abductions.
Investigators including Nick Redfern and David Weatherly have described cases where UFO experiencers have seen
owl-looking humanoids, as well as "regular" owls. Weatherly said that a large owl landed on the hood of his car and stared at him the moment he drove up to the home of a woman he was going to interview. The woman claimed to have numerous UFO sightings near her home in Florida. It's an interesting story.

There have also been owl-like cryptids reported, the most famous being Mothman. He (it?) was given the name because of the large moth or butterfly type wings, but wintnesses say he had the face and head of an owl. Then there's Britain's owlman of Mawnan.

In the show Twin Peaks, when the owl was around, it always meant "Bob" (aka leland palmer) was somewhere nearby. and I believe David Lynch wrote the character as being supernatural/alien-like

There's nothing strange about owls. They are a normal bird. The host evidently has just seen the movie where seeing an owl means aliens.

Dunno about aliens, but standing in a building full of barn owls is kinda eerie. They make no noise when they fly. All you can here is a little scritching sound as they take off and little thump as they land.

Also, owls hiss, animals that hiss are assholes. Like geese, geese hiss...# geese.....ummm.

I like owls. They're really cool. We caught small one in a mist net once while trapping bats. It was a hassle to get out. They don't stop biting and their beaks are sharp and strong.

I have barred owls around my house and hear their calls often. Quite spooky at night. I always think of them as warning signs of a death that will occur soon- if they are perched on your window ledge.

Just like that movie the 4th kind?
Where the residents of Noma Alaska see owls, but really their being abducted.

Good movie and all, but the harsh fact is that the majority of the disappearances stemmed from the locals being drunk and attempting to travel vast distances between towns in sub freezing temps.

I saw that thread. I think owls have been co-opted by those evil pricks. I think owls are strange, not evil.

I have an irrational fear of all things owl. As a child we were told by my grandma would tell us someone we knew was going to die by mornings light. A superstitious woman she was. Anyway, one night my maw and I hear and then see a huge white owl in the front yard. My grandmaw passed by morning light.

coincidence probably but they creep me out just the same.

You know, it's odd... I had an experience with an owl when I was about 17-18 years old, and when I revisit it, it seems out of place.

I was a senior in high school and my parents had just built a new house outside of town on a man-made lake, still in development. I moved in to take care of the place while my parents lived in town at the old house to take care of all the crap we accumulated.

I drove home one day and decided to drive around the dirt road surrounding the lake to smoke a cigarette. As I was driving, I rounded a bend to be met by an enormous owl in the middle of the road. This thing was about three feet. I stopped my car and we just stared at each other for a good 10 seconds, but it seemed much longer. Then the owl spread it's wings and flew over my car. No joke, this owls wingspan was the width of my car.

I didn't think much of it rather than it was a cool experience. But later as I researched the owls in the area, nothing like that exists here. Not even close.

I've had friends with fascinations about owls, but now I a have a fascination of my own. Being quite nocturnal myself, owls have a place in my heart.
