Dave Mustaine, dudes a freaking legend...
So what is he up to these days, is he still with Megadeth?
"I was responsible for putting warheads on foreheads." — Amanda Higgins
I was on my way home with a friend to visit with family about mid-way through my Air Force tour in Korea in 1995, and Dave was in front of me buying coffee at an airport coffee shop. I got a side-profile of him and thought 'I know this guy' but my buddy was a country fan and wasn't impressed. Then Dave started speaking and I was like 'Holy #! It's him!' I was in uniform because at that time, a couple of airlines were giving available first-class seats to military in uniform so I thought I'd see if I could snag one of those seats (I didn't). Anyway, I said "Hey, aren't you Dave Mustaine?" He turned and looked me up and down then said "In the flesh." Then I said "Man, I love your music" then he turned and said "Thanks, I love what you do too, man"
We chatted some small talk then he said that if I come to any of his concerts on the next tour, just look him up and he'd put me down front (Life got in the way and I never did though). Then he got his coffee, threw a $20 bill on the counter and said "Get these guys whatever they want" then he turned to me and said "Thanks for serving my country man." I got home and told my whole family, but you know, they didn't understand who he was so it wasn't so much of a big deal to them. Funny thing is, I later worked at the White House and was less impressed meeting two Presidents than I was meeting Dave Mustaine. You know, because he's Metal, and almost honest. LOL.

Dave Mustaine is my hero. I love that he gives metal (and such GOOD metal) a christian face, it contrasts nicely with all this dark satanistic #. Why would you have to be a satanist or an atheist to love metal? That's just insane. That way, Christian metal lovers get ostracised just the way that non-christians always blame the christians for doing...how ironic. Maybe it's nothing to do with religion but with...human nature?? I personally really dig that he adresses the Illuminati-New World Order-deceptions in his music. Also, people change. Evolution, you know. It's part of life. Maybe people that haven't lived long enough to understand that process can blame someone for turning their life around. Personally, I admire and salute him for that. It's no easy feat to get off of drugs and alcohol.

Shhh quiet might piss somebody off
Like me BLEEEEEP you've been at it for too long
While you feed off others' insecurities
You stand in front of me and bite the hand that feeds
Self-righteousness is wearing thin
(lies inside your head, your best friend)
Heart bleeds but not for fellow men
(broken glass, your fake reflection)
I've had enough
It's time for something real
I don't respect the words you're speaking
Gone too far
A clone
So how does it feel to know that someone's kid
In the heart of America has blood on their hands
Fighting to defend your rights
So you can maintain a lifestyle
That insults his family's existence
Well, where I'm from we have a special
Salute that we aim high in the air
Towards all those pompous BLEEP
Who spend…
Shadows has said that the song is COMPLETELY pro-Republican, and solely aimed at criticizing Liberals and Democrats. In the link below to YouTube video of a radio station interview (where he's accompanied by Synyster Gates), Shadows makes it crystal clear that he has a lot of animosity toward Liberals (and he also implies that this is the position of the band as a whole). I'm a bit surprised to hear this ... but it's still a great song.
