Democrats Remove - SO HELP ME GOD - From The Swearing-in Oath.

Contrary to my normal belief...I have no problem with this. Yes, I am concerned about removing God (whichever God) from our society...I can understand that some people that don't believe in God would take the oath and it would mean nothing. By instead stating "under the penalty of law" kinda makes sense.

That has more to do with freemasonry than Christianity though. You have to keep in mind that our country was founded by a group of freemasons.

“So help me god” is not a prayer or a promise to god. It’s supposed to be an implication of a threat. Look at it from a different wording:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, lest I be split in twain."

Separation of church and state. Not everybody believes in God or if they do believe in God it may not be your type of God.

Democrats removed this because they think it will reduce or eliminate the penalty for unrepentant LYING. And they really do have a need to lie a lot. Having to tell the truth about anything would destroy the democrat platform.
