State of the Union Address Rescheduled to Tuesday Feb. 5th 2019.

The 2019 State of the Union status speech delivered to Congress by President Donald J. Trump, was originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 29th.

However, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, would not allow President Trump to deliver this major annual address from in the House chamber, as is customary. She cited the partial government shutdown, and associated "security concerns", as the reasons why.

Since President Trump has now re-opened the 30% of the Federal Government that was shut-down, Speaker Pelosi has invited President Trump to deliver the SOTU address on the evening of Tuesday, February 5, 2019.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has invited President Donald Trump to give the State of the Union address on Feb. 5, following a clash during the partial government shutdown that delayed the speech.

In a letter to Trump, the California Democrat said she and the president agreed to the date after they spoke on Monday.

The president accepted Pelosi's invitation in a letter, saying "We have a great story to tell and yet, great goals to achieve!"

The Senate and the House have to both sign-off on authorizing the President to address them. It's just a "formality" that is often done as late as the morning of the State of the Union address.

Is it possible that Nancy Pelosi could change her mind, and make up some excuse for having the State of the Union address delayed again?

I was just reading information that indicates Speaker Pelosi might choose to delay again, if Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is unable to attend.

It is time to ignore the press, the Democrats and Pelosi that they are BOUND BY THE CONSTITUTION.

it clearly states the president can address the congress , senate or both on the state of the union.
be (as in early days) a letter, in person, or any way he wants.
He has the CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY to call into session congress, senate or BOTH at HIS CHOICE , TIME AND DATE.

The speaker of either body NO MATTER THE PARTY is not a dictator and CANT TELL THE PRESIDENT HE CANNOT SPEAK when and where he likes.

Its called Separation OF POWERS

What he needs to do is USE THEM

Trump should announce BOTH though a press conference and a st same time tweet that he is invoking this power to call a joint session of congress on XX day at XX time.

At that time he addresses the joint session with the state of the union address.

We already know Pelosi , the democrats, rinos with the main stream press will go completely berserk, call him every name in the book, and say they will stop him.

On that day the Secret service , capitol hill police , and Sargent of arms of the house/senate ARREST and/or ANYONE that attempts to block the way of this, stage a sit in, and/or disrupts him in any way .

then give his speech.

remember this isnt for the press who wont report it fairly much less accurately
it isnt for the posters who will tell the same lies (10 points or more hillory win and blue wave ring a bell) .
nor for the democrats, rinos, and leftist groups who will throw a fit if they dont get their way much less this.

its for those who PUT HIM IN OFFICE by majority.

If trump didnt do it his way for THE PEOPLE and went the "politician" route he NEVER would have been elected.

IMO, President Trump is not being too combative with Pelosi, because her actions make her look petty and trifling to the American people. Let her keep saying "no" to things that make sense to everyone else.

If Pelosi looks bad, that spills over to her Democrat colleagues as well.

If I might broaden the OP (if its topic drift mods please remove it).

I think through this whole thing trump is showing (but not reported accurately in any way) the businessman tactics on dealing with this whole situation of the boarder wall and shutdown.

He got early what he could thought the CONSTITUTIONAL process and (again not reported accurately much less fairly) alot of it that benefits the USA and citizens.

Then after the midterms where the republicans didnt loose as much as obama did his first mid terms (no blue wave) and mostly due to not doing what they promised along with by not supporting his supreme court nominee on BS charges.

He went for the wall.
Of course democrats and rinos said "no" so he REFUSED to sigh their bill.

they did not have enough votes (you know that constitution thing) so they tried to bully him by bad press for PARTIAL government shutdown.

Trump offered (gasp) compromise by offering them something they CLAIM they wanted (DACA and more) for his funding of the "wall"

they REFUSED and in chicago democratic mafia fashion "you give us what we say, or nothing".
along with breaking all congressional civility, decorum, respect and history refusing the state of the union speech .
something they really cannot do.

Trump now showed the people (even with the spin of the press) what the democrats TRUE colors were and who they REALLY CARED ABOUT.

now he gave a TEMPORARY short term delay to give them time to do right (or in vernacular more rope to hang themselves) .

In short they think they got him to back down but in reality he tested them, made them commit to show their true intentions, gave them time to correctly assess the situation and if they dont....

drop the legal hammer.

Big thing you are mistaken about, Trump has never had the votes for the wall which is why the government went into shutdown last year under GOP control, they did not want GOP reps and senators to be on the record against the president (which is why it was just a unanimous consent vote in the senate so no one senator is on record as yes or no) and they hoped they could blame DEMs next session when they knew the DEMs wouldnt vote for a wall across the whole border.

The only reason the Continuing Resolution is so short is because its the same one from December that the GOP failed to pass. The same bill Trump said he wouldn't sign then but will now.

The first SOTU address was canceled due to the shutdown, not enough time for security getting it set up properly while all the different agencies are spinning back up. By Feb 5th the agencies should be functioning mostly normal (will take a long time to get back to speed, some agencies are looking at years of back log now).

actually you are partially right... SOME republicans when the vote counted showed their true colors and were not for the wall. But what you ignored or wanted forgotten was that the SAME WAS TRUE FOR DEMOCRATS. You can EASILY find many speaches of prominent leaders of the democratic party along with obama himself. Add to it while some MAYBE were hoping to blame the demcrats. the REALITY is democrats ALONG WITH republicans LIED in previous votes/speaches and when it counted showed their true colors.. um NO... it is a TEMPORARY continuing resolution for THREE WEEKS... not the extended time of the origional. Guess you missed (deliberately) that part? Um outside of claims of Pelosi EXACTLY WHERE did the secret service (the one who sets up ALL presidental protection) , the captial police, military, ect state this? Cant seem to find ANY PROOF of this. In fact all the agencies responcible for security (be presidental or otherwise) were CRITICAL SERVICES so did not need to "spin up". Add to it what facts do you have that ANY AGENCY has "years of backlog now) over a shutdown that included weekends and holidays? now lets look at what the CONSTITUTION says

Article II, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution for the President to periodically "give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient."

It was first done in writing and in the 1930s the president started doing in in a joint session of congress.
Adding radio then TV as technology progressed.

The "invitation" of the speaker of the house was a CIVIL FORMALITY not a constitutional requirement.

No where in the Constitution does it say ANY SPEAKER (regardless of political party) has the authority to deny or prevent the president from doing the state of the union to a joint session of congress.

In fact the president can call the senate, congress or both into session at any time he wishes.

then he can do the state of the union, give a speech, or not even show up as he sees fit UNDER THE CONSTITUTION.

So on a factual and CONSTITUTIONAL level your post is rant, repeating what pelosi said , propaganda and even considered outright lies.

So in short your trying to use the standard propaganda tactic that was states tell a lie often enough people will think its the truth.

Not only that but Shall from time to time. Does not have to be every year and can be multiple times a year. And that decision is solely up to the president. He could perform a SOTU ever day if he really wanted. Plus he can call one or both houses to order to do so.

Could walk in and say you have 72 hours to drop a funding bill on my desk for the wall. On hour 73 call them both into session and adjourn one or both for a period of time to “think about a better course of action when that time is up.” 30 days for example, then call them both back in to session on day 3 of those 30. Forcing them to come back to DC.

Trump can play that game over and over until enough don’t make it back in time to vote no on his wall.

This "woman" is constantly attempting to "derail negotiations" by saying NO WALL! NO WALL!

I hope Pelosi's muscle relaxer meds aren't working this coming Tuesday night. She needs a good embarrassment on live TV, to make her humble!

It wasn't just RINO's. Senate passed it 100-0. Trump offered to extend DACA for a short period, still leaving the people involved sitting in limbo, It was a shallow offer.

He still isn't going to get his wall because the law protects private property in this country. Of course he will never admit this to his followers. So maybe congress gives him some money, but the wall you all envision will still never be built.

Nothing about rescheduling the State of the Union was unreasonable given the circumstances. Trump could have delivered a letter on the scheduled date if he was in need of getting it done on that date.
