Not exactly a lost civilization but a story if proven true, will answer some of the mystery about Cleopatra's death.

If they do find the tomb I hope they do a facial reconstruction so we can finally estimate what Cleo really did look like. From many of the things I have read she was not a raving beauty but was able to seduce someone by her intellect; I have known a few women like that but..a pretty face does help the process..

The long-lost tomb of Mark Antony and Cleopatra will be "uncovered soon," historians in Egypt say.

Archaeologists believe they have identified the hidden location of the crypt in which they say the leaders are buried together.

I have always felt sorry for Cleopatra.. Cesar and Mark Antony did buy her and Egypt some time but in the end her dreams were shattered.

Berenice IV to claim the throne. The latter was killed in 55 BC when Ptolemy XII returned to Egypt with Roman military assistance. When Ptolemy XII died in 51 BC, he was succeeded by Cleopatra and her younger brother Ptolemy XIII as joint rulers, but a falling-out between them led to open civil war.

Smart politician is so "fake news". She had a hereditary rulership

Nothing about "politician" requires being democratically elected.

ETA from your thread history, I think you're the last one that should be trying to deduce what is "fake news". Sheesh.

politician /pɒlɪˈtɪʃ(ə)n/ noun a person who is professionally involved in politics, especially as a holder of an elected office.

My thread history?

Argue the facts not the player - you starting to sound like what you accuse others of.

Definitely interesting but i can't believe you have any sympathy for her! If anything, history has been extremely kind to Cleopatra.

She had her sister murdered, she went to war with her brother, she split Caesar's allies - not to mention her incest.......

I know it was a different time (far more bloodthirsty) but she was no Mother Theresa!

Whatever your opinion of Cleopatra, it was an interesting article. The title is a bit misleading. As I understood it, the tomb has not been found. They think they know where to dig next. As such, it certainly is not about to be "uncovered soon."

So, which is it? Your title says emphatically is was "found". Then you say "if they do find it"...and "story if proven".....

So which of the 3 is it? Definitely "found", "if they do..." and "if proven".

Can't be all 3... Next!

# off to you too, stranger!

and yes she has accomplished much more than just being "good looking", if she were a guy nobody would care.

My understanding is she had major oral fixations for men and it made her rather popular in the neighborhood. I read that many years ago and thats how red lipstick became popular for marketing her skills.

Time will tell.

The OP doesnt appear to be edited... Perhaps you did not see the part at the end where he feels sorry for her. Thus, while understandably curious about the mythos of her beauty, her looks were definitely Not "all he cared about".

Your just one of those people who loves to accuse others of "isms". In other words, a soulless Leftist.

Apparently she wasn't good looking. For that, I'll pass.

I would imagine Cleopatra's tomb would have been made difficult to find on purpose, they would have kept it concealed from grave-robbers knowing what they did in the old kingdom. I don't think her final resting place will be uncovered too soon even if they have found the area.

Not sure we need a facial reconstruction but it would make all the artists impressions of what she looked like obsolete.
I'm sure she was attractive even if sources disagree

From what I was reading about her, and from all the depictions of her, she always had boobs hanging out. I would imagine that's how she drew the guys in if she was ugly.

Hawass says this is false. Which, of course, means I find it to be more plausible now.
