I'm so sad that I've given myself and my soul to the teaching of the mormon church and only to find out that I can never go to one of their temples because of my life style. Yes , I drink, smoke pot, take them drugs the docs give me and worst of all I drink coffee and green tea.
Please my fellow ATS members, I'm going into a wind of confusion that may just blow me away. I feel I'm been mislead that I must believe the mormon book is true. And it was written by JS high on mushrooms. ( we all know that is a fact) What should I do folks now. I'm empty.

People only take away from you what you let them. This book will help you get back your power:

Have you tried atheism? Why leave one group of liars, just to join another?

Your free from the cult of Mormon, it’s all ok now.

Ever watch South Park? They sum up the Mormon faith pretty good.

You are better off without those blaspheming charlatans anyway musicismagic.

It might not seem that way, but its the truth. Another granule of truth, is that all one actually needs is faith in Jesus. Those who claim to be his Church do not matter a damn in comparison. Try thinking about these matters as if you had not been indoctrinated by blasphemers and charlatans
and things will look far more promising!

Listen...I've always been against "organized" religion...some you tythe $$ and completely change your lifestyle because they tell you to.

Ok....tho I'm not addressing your life choices because they are yours...but a church...any church....should accept you for who you are now...and over time...encourage you to change (or not)....to be the best you can be.

Good luck, but find your course, and don't stray either way...too far off the path.

God accepts us for who we are NOW...and not who you MIGHT become later...

God Bless...M.S./Christian

I am a fairly traditionalist Christian so you can take what I say with a grain of salt but I would classify groups like the Mormons and the JW's as cults.

That being said, there are 'cultish' Christian groups and even individual people who think 'cultishly' within fairly open Christian groups.

The truth is that your path is entirely your own and you should not consider a group membership as a key to spiritual growth. You won't find heaven because of some group label.

That being said, we are social beings and social groups are important to ourselves. The issue is where a social group exerts control, that isn't a good group to be in.

I think that we only find our truth in constant searching and re-challenging our doubts. If you are in a place of contentment, then your only future path is discontent because we are always changing. Growth is resistance to complacency and sometimes the path is perilous. Live it!

Ask yourself this.
Did YOU give your soul to the church or to Jesus?.
If it is Jesus you have given yourself to then remember he gave you YOU back by his suffering and you can really actually go into ANY church and pray to him if that is the case - at least any mainstream faith.

I am not going to be one to persecute your former faith but I have several issues with it, I reserve judgement though since I am not the Judge and he shall deal with that issue if he so chooses to do so.

My understanding is this though, One husband to one Wife, yes there were men with many wives in the old testament but this is the new covenant the covenant of the blood of Christ - he is the WAY and the life and the RESURRECTION and in his own word's there is no difference between a man and a woman in the RESURRECTION (Christ) they shall be given new body's like the angel's and shall not be given nor taken in marriage as the former thing's are passed away - so the Mormon religion actually stepped backward there and ignored what he had said or interpreted it through a tinted lens as far as I am concerned but hey I am not it's judge.

If you love Jesus then that is all that matter's, you can leave the Mormon church but NEVER leave your faith in Christ find him, seek him out in all the other church's or just in your own heart, like he said he hears the prayers made in secret just as well as those made in public - which is why I have an issue with some of the current religious leaders argument against a personal relationship with the lord (other denomination), all relationship's with the Lord are personal yes we should be together to talk about his word's and teaching and to break bread in memory of him but our faith and prayers to him are almost all personal except for those time's when we pray as a group knowing his word's that he is were ever two or more are gathered in his name.

So keep faith in the Lord and don't be separated from your faith by the sorrow's of this world but remember you are a Christian first and whatever denomination second or third, if your church's teaching's are different to those of others then just keep faith in Jesus himself, the Church and whatever brothers in Christ you decide to go to is irrelevant so long as you keep your faith in him.

Sometime's keeping faith is harder, time's you lose those you love, when the world seem's to fall in on you and when you think God is not hearing your prayers even when to you they are at world shattering time's but here is the truth he hears them all.

Whatever your choice God be with you and Jesus keep you and your wife safe.

You've not only lost what grounded you, made you feel loved by God and accepted by all the people that were involved and so have lost your social network but due to their teachings you now feel disconnected from God.

All religions are man made. There is always one person or a group at the top that lays out the rules and group behaviours expected. This is not what Jesus was about. Remind yourself of this every time you feel lost, guilt, abandoned, adrift or whatever emotion you feel.

Call out to Jesus. You have the Holy Spirit in you. He is your guide. Pick up the Bible and start reading for yourself what true love is and what God wants from you. He wants a personal relationship with you - that is all. He wants your love. He already loves you more than you can even imagine.

As drussel41 mentioned get a bible and start by reading the book of John. You can eat and drink whatever you want. The old law of not being able to drink or eat certain foods is done away with. Jesus came to pay the price for everyone's sin and so there is no need to follow rituals or do things in a certain way. You simply have to live as you wish, keeping Jesus at the forefront of all thoughts and actions and you are going to do fine and you will find your confidence and happiness return. But it will be better than before because now no one is controlling you or telling you how to live your life.

Its funny how most atheists denounce all faith when they are younger and have that notion life seems so long and believe invincible. As the years march by and they look back and realize life is so short here on earth they begin to search their hearts and minds for something to believe from beyond.

Friend don't wait to seek out a belief system its good for your families and teaches them lessons of wisdom learned over thousands of years about doing what's right. One of the best books to raise a child with a moral compass is Christianity. Valuable lessons that apply to every aspect of one's life can found there even if you don't have faith or believe in Christ.

Well, OP, if you do not agree with the idealology of the Mormons, just quit. Smoking pot, drinking, partying, they do not go well with any Christian religion. When I was doing that kind of stuff, I stayed away from Churches, but never bashed any religion just because I chose not to be like they wanted to be. It's their life and they can live it like they desire. I know some Mormons, they are good people and do not condemn those who do not believe like they do. Sure, they say to change and live a better life but you do not need to follow their path. Always remain honest and keep your integrety up, even a person who parties can follow Christian ethics as far as being honest and trustworthy.

Jesus partied with the 'sinners'. That was one of the things that the 'religious' leaders of the day held against him. Paul also suggested that Timothy have a medicinal drink.

The thing is that Jesus wasn't there for the parties and drinks. And Paul also warned about loosing control in partying. They weren't 'about' abstinence, but were about responsibility in living.

The danger for us is to loose sight of what is important. Christianity isn't about legalism.

Even the worst degenerate junkie sinner can be saved (thank God)!

I agree. The atheists are a bunch of liars. They claim they do not to have any dogma but they are just as bad as the rest.

Yeah, Jesus supposedly said in the Bible that some said he was a wine bibber and a glutton. He did not deny it at all. In fact he said he was enjoying his short time here.

I'll never get into heaven, Wine gives me some nasty headaches so I kind of hate wine. I do not think that Hot Toddies will be allowed.

You don't need to adhere to a religion to believe in God...

And by the way a good portion of the book of moron was copied word for word from the KJV

DO yourself a favor... ditch religion and think for yourself
