regarding the things politicians get away with saying:

we the people allow it to happen. we applaud when a politician we support says crazy things. we encourage them to "go get" other politicians from the opposing party instead of providing the representation of the people they "serve".

this crazy talk is our doing. it's our fault. only we the people can fix it.

instead of voting party line, we should be electing candidates according to a their voting record, their stance on issues that help the citizens of this nation, we should learn to understand the legislation they propose.

unfortunately this won't happen. as long as everyone has cheap access to social media, their starbucks coffee, and affordable fuel, no one will even frown.

I'm not making any accusations. But, typically, we get the hyperbolic response.

Islam is more than a religion, my friend. If it were JUST a religion, there wouldn't be as much distrust.

ETA: You probably won't like my answer and will label my viewpoint with some kind of "ism" or "phobia". That's the typical tactic. But, I am immune to that sort of accusation and I think many Americans are becoming immune to it, as well. Criticism and common sense observation does not equal "ism" or "phobia". Wake up.

Fortunately, we don't have a "religious test" for our elected officials. If we did, that lying, lecherous, adulterous, thieving Donald Trump wouldn't have been elected.
