On Thursday, February 24, 2005, Philadelphia lost its only alternative rock radio station. Radio-One, the owners of the station, moved a rap station to the more favorable frequency. After over a decade of broadcasting, the radio giants decided that Y100 did not fit their overall "look" and switched it for a more urban station. Read the full story right here.

So what am I supposed to do now? I spent over 2 hours a day listening to the sweet vibes of the holy Y100. And if I turn it on now, all I hear is some angry black gangster vomitting into my ear. Something has to be done. The Rock Gods must be appeased.

I bring to you what is left of Y100. The site Y100Rocks.com. There you will find the loyal listeners such as myself who wont go down without a fight. And we have one hell of a fight for Radio-One. Currently, protests are being planned and big-name bands are getting involved. We even have the support of Weezer and multiple concert venues.

So all I ask of you is that you sign our petition and try to get involved. Currently, there are over 23,000 signatures on the petition. But we need more. If not for yourself, then for the hundreds of thousands of listeners that are now being force fed rap and hip hop.

Change can only come if we do something. We need people to take charge and get Alternative Rock back on the airwaves in Philly.

Heres the link again.

Rock on.

LOL!

I was out of town, came back, turned on my car and Rap was playing.

I was thinking to myself "what the hell? I don't listen to rap" looked at my radio, and saw it was on 100.3!!!

Terrible times!

I remember a while back when 103.9 was WDRE - that was the best station ever!
