I read this today, and realized at least 1/2 of Americans share this opinion. I thought it was just me. This presidency has me more embarrassed than the Nixon years. Now, Ive said it...let the sound offs begin. M.S.

The White House is now a madhouse: The next President will make America greater just by showing up

I drove past the White House the other day. It’d been a while and the place seemed smaller, somewhat tawdry, almost haunted. I imagined bats winging in and out of it, spider webs in the corners and the President upstairs in the family quarters, talking back to the TV, railing against Pelosi, the Fed, Mueller, Macron, May, Mattis, Sessions, Stormy and ... who am I forgetting? Oh, yes, Obama for, well, everything. The car slowed. I thought I heard a wail from the upper floor. Donald Trump going mad.

Or maybe I am. I would not be surprised. Trump has that effect on people. It’s hard to believe we’re into another year and he’s still the President of the United States. The shock of it has not worn off. He has never achieved normalcy. Often when I see him on TV, I react with a kind of nausea: Him! How? I know, the Electoral College. I know, a slice of three states. Yes, yes, but how did we elect such a dummy, such a liar, such a baby, such a fool, such a dirty man?

He walks the same halls Lincoln did. He sleeps where the Roosevelts did. He bathes where the visiting Churchill did. Would Churchill have ever visited this President?

Trump has soiled America. He has not made it greater but, in a word whose need is now apparent, worser. The America that previous Presidents boasted about — Ronald Reagan’s “shining city on a hill” — is now a slum among nations. The goodness of the American people — another refrain of Presidents past — is now a mere memory. But American goodness was always like the banner that tour guides held up — follow me. Follow the U.S. because we saved Europe from the Nazis and Asia from Imperial Japan — and then Europe again, this time from the Stalinist thugs of Soviet Communism.

if you live in the US, he is your president. Even if it makes you sad. I'm sorry, I don't make the rules, I just report them.

Thank god Hillary Clinton lost. If she won, you would be complaining a lot.

Not Trump, though. He is a rhetorical pratfall. His soul is dark. His vision is to shrink the traditional American one. He offers the world no moral leadership and slaps the back of authoritarians such as Vladimir Putin. He lies with every breath — not because he must, as Eisenhower did about the downing of Francis Gary Powers in his U-2 spy plane — because it’s the easier course. There’s not a parent out there who wants his or her child to be like Trump.

I just couldn't help notice Russophobie there. This author pretends that Trump has lied more then the Clintons/Obamas. And somehow author/writer just skims through the fact that America slaps the back authoritarians such as the ones who killed the Saudis journalist?

A President who does not lie, who does not try to buy the silence of a porn star, who makes his taxes public, who leaves money-making behind, who does not turn his political party into a beer-hall collection of ideological goons, who rages at the murder of a journalist by a foreign country, who respects the importance of a free press ... such a President will make America greater just by showing up.

Very comical what free press? does he mean that same free press that has threaten trump and his family? the same Free Press that is going agaisnt the people with their ridiculous agendas like prompting boy drag queens? the same Free Press that demands open borders to right that same Free Press?

This article whomever wrote it clearly is beyond pathetic and no doubt an Obama Supporter to.

I always find it funny when people say they're embarrassed of their country because of Trump. Meanwhile the man has far more international support than the last turd of a president we had. But of course, if you're going by the media's self-perpetuating nonsense then you should be embarrassed.

But it's kinda like deliberately spraying feces all over your house then announcing you're embarrassed when company comes over.

It seems everyone forget the number of Scandals that the Obama admin had and of course he tried to cover up with. Going even as far by stating to the Free Press, i am scandal free!

This still amazes me how people think their hatred towards Trump is their own making.

The US media has made an embarrassment out of the US presidency.

Far worse than Nixon. The trump foundation alone, shows that. I guarantee there one of those sealed indictments in the Washington courts, has trumps name on it!

LOL - you sound like that sad bitter Joy Baher. I bet you also posit that this next president, in order to fulfill your fantasy, will also need to be a democrat too, and non-white, preferably from a minority, maybe even a midget, just to ensure you have extra propaganda-points to push upon the unsuspecting.

'Not my president" - is an oral symptom of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

LOL - don't get pissed when your next president, whom you will endorse more than Jesus, gets hammered by voters the day it announces its running for POTUS and continues to get hammered right through-out its tenure because if you think that it is going to all of a sudden get a free pass in this regard, then you're even more deluded than I suspected.

Your next president will get exactly what you give, be judged and lied about exactly the way you judge and spread lies about Trump - you better be ready, because just as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, so too will your next president be shown the respect it deserves.

Hows them apples?

That a lot for President Trump to do in less than 2 years. I do agree that he isn’t a very elegant speaker, but that where agreement ends. Washington became horribly corrupt well befor Trump was sworn in. He is fighting a battle against the ignorance and greed of the left. I support him.

No, the current "President" has done that all by himself.

As far as Obama...and Clinton? Let em go...they're guilty and gone...look to the future...

Thats where i disagree.

The US Media is the one pushing anti white hatred wide in the open. The US media is also pushing agendas like promting boy drag queen and accepting as a new normal.

The same US media has being silent on recent issues.

So that user is correct.
