Depends entirely on the study and, in regards to what you're citing, it hinges on an incarceration rate while studies which refute the idea that immigrants commit fewer crimes hinge on actual conviction rate. This country does not incarcerate many of the illegals it convicts, sending many of them back via deportation rather than imprisoning them, so the comparisons are apples to oranges.

Build the GD wall and build it as high as structurally feasible.

Have you considered that the drug lords who aren't already living stateside will fly over the wall in their private 'planes, or travel around it in their yachts? ... and they'll offer lifts to their henchmen, too.

Build that wall, pour your money and time and resources into the folly.

I think you misunderstand.

There may be 107 cops killed this year in the line of duty. But, any cop killed by an ILLEGAL entrant should be an even bigger headline.

Nobody thinks all illegal immigrants will become even bigger criminals. (Like hearing it or not, by entering illegally, they have already gone against the law.) But, if just one does something as heinous as murdering a police officer, we should scream and shout even louder to BUILD. THE. DAMN. WALL. NOW! It will prevent most from entering illegally. That makes us safer.

Several thoughts there.
1. The "Drug Lords" are businessmen. The guys running the cartels actually do fear the US legal system because that system can take something from them which they truly love: their money. The mules, not so much... you're talking about people with nothing to lose.
2. Most of the violent illegals in the US aren't allied with the cartels. They are small time thugs the cartels, themselves, have driven out of Mexico and into the US.
3. Ever hear of the Aerostat program or the Coast Guard? Nothing flies or sails into the USA without an eye in the sky seeing it... not as easy when dealing with people crossing the same land masses as other similarly sized animals under the cover of darkness. The Dept of HLS miss the land based night crossers because they have chased shadows that proved to be coyotes, deer, cows, etc too many times. The wall ends that confusion entirely because livestock and large wildlife don't climb 40 foot high walls with electrified concertina wire atop them.

Oh that’s right “statistics are manipulated”.

Actually, as far as incarceration statistics go, 50% of all incarcerated identify as Maori, despite them being a minority. Also there are more Maori women incarcerated than men.

There are possibly cultural conflicts at the root of the statistics (which aren't "manipulated" as far as I can tell) which have given rise to criminal gangs, which, to an extent, have become proxy for the tribal groups that once had prominence.

It is hoped that by reestablishing Maori language, culture, tribal and familial connections that the gangs will become less relevant, true Maori culture will blossom and crime will reduce.

The thing was, during the rise to prominence of these gangs, the isolationist principles of McCarthyism had political dominance and true community, inclusive of all races, was marginalized. This is precisely the situation occurring in the US and has had hold there far longer than in NZ.

I beg the differ, these cartels don't even have close to the fire power the US miltary has... besides Mexico's military is obsolete compared to ours so technically there's nothing stopping us from waltzing right in and cleaning house... they wouldn't even see us coming
