President Donald Trump made a surprise visit to American troops in Iraq

As the US stock market makes a massive rebound, President Donald Trump touched down in Iraq on Wednesday for an unannounced visit with U.S. troops, marking his first encounter with soldiers serving under his command in a combat zone. The White House said Trump and first lady Melania Trump left late Christmas night. Air Force One flew overnight and landed under the cover of darkness Wednesday at Joint Base al Asad, west of Baghdad. The unannounced trip comes at a time of change in the region following the president's announcement earlier this month that he will withdraw American troops from Syria — a heavily criticized move that prompted the resignation of Defense Secretary Jim Mattis. Making his first visit to a troubled region, Trump said he was more concerned for the people accompanying him to Iraq than he was for himself, the AP reported. He made the 11-hour flight on a darkened Air Force One with lights off and window shades drawn, accompanied by military jet escorts. President Trump, his wife and National Security Adviser John Bolton traveled on Air Force One to al-Asad airbase, west of the capital Baghdad, to meet military personnel in the base's restaurant. He spent about three hours at the base in what is his first visit to the region.

During the visit he got a standing ovation from troops as he entered a dining hall and walked around greeting them, posing for selfies with them and signing autographs.

U.S. stock market, is far from stable. This is trumps first visit, to our Military in Iraq. Every other sitting president, had visited their first year in office.

President Obama, went in April, his first year in office, trump has been in, almost 2 years. How many opportunities, did trump pass on, to honor our troops, just last Veteran's day. He did not even visit Arlington. Not a word about Pearl Harbor.

Bone spurs, is one of the worst presidents ever. Skipping, chances to honor the fallen, because it was sprinkling, and did not want to get his hair wet!

He has done more for our Military than any recent President.

He's been busy working for the troops and not just paying lip service as previous President's did. They actually got a raise under Trump's leadership whereas Obama never gave them one in 8 years.

They get to leave IraQ, Syria and Afghanistan and come home to their families. If it was up to Dems and RINO's they would never be allowed to leave those God forsaken places.

what has the Dow been doing for a month?It is far from stable. Tomorrow it could easily drop, 1,200. There is uncertainty.

Really? I didn't feel that slap. I'm a "troops". How would you know? Are you a "troops" too? Rather have the PotUS making America great again than taking precious time out of seeing me. Though, if he did, that would be pretty cool. If he didn't, man.... I'd be so happy to NOT be in a war zone like Siria. Why would you want to be in a constant state of war? Don't you care about peoples lives being lost? What do you know about war. What doesn't keep you up at night, screaming in sweat because you're still there in your dreams but you know you're not supposed to be there? How many people have you killed over war, only to have that feeling of dread in your gut every day of your life because you feel horrible for taking someone's brother, father, child, husband away from someone who loved them?
