I saw your question. It is rather vague but you asked "how it happened." I thought maybe you meant the Saudis supporting Kurds. In which case I wondered if it actually did happen.

Saudi's trying to save face and be 'the good guys' after that whole Khashoggi incident.

Saudi's will never be the good guys. Hell, I suspect they support ISIS one way or another similar to the way the US have supported ISIS behind the scenes.
