I guess that this goes to show the relationship between socialism and communism. Venezuela is socialist, but nothing to worry about as many claim that socialism is unrelated to communism, or course someone needs to tell Russia that.

MOSCOW — Two Russian nuclear-capable strategic bombers arrived in Venezuela on Monday, a deployment that comes amid soaring Russia-U.S. tensions. Russia's Defense Ministry said a pair of Tu-160 bombers landed at Maiquetia airport outside Caracas on Monday following a 6,200-mile flight. It didn't say whether the bombers were carrying any weapons and didn't say how long they would stay in Venezuela.

I like how it says "amid Russia/US tensions" like Russia is going to threaten us with nuclear bombs or something. Click bait story. (Not directed at you, OP)

Hey, it beats the time they claimed a Bear that was armed with nuclear weapons flew directly over Guam.

Its an interesting development as their are Iranian warships, in the area as well, plus Russia has just been denied access to the SWIFT exchange system, which means Visa and Mastercard's don't work in Russia anymore. NATO warships are in the Black sea , and things are being ramped up in the Ukraine. The last time Russia had nukes in the area we were on the brink with regards to Cuba. By the way Russia still has a listening station in Cuba. The deal last time was that the USA had to pull out its nukes from Turkey. Since NATO has Nukes all around Russia's borders I would imagine that this is the reason that Russia is doing a tit for tat.

There are no indications that Russia has moved nuclear weapons anywhere, or that they have any in Venezuela.

I hate to contradict you Zaphod....but nothing beats a nuclear armed bear that can fly.

Nothing.

Here is another video with some critical opinions about this action. Includes a heavily dramatized landing on the runway with the reporter.

An interesting fact. Distance from Caracas to Texas is less than Kh-101 missile range that would be 4500 km. Tu-160 in Venezuela is a serious threat to Texas oil refineries. Texas oil refineries is of course the first target Russia would go after in case of a war between Russia and America. Knocking out Texas oil refineries instantly cripples the American mainland.

yea good luck with that.

We can at least archive as much content as possible for this 2018 thread.
Here is an image, quite the collage actually. Its the same two bombers being escorted by Venezuelan F-16 and Su-30 during their flight over the Caribbean.

I wonder why Falcon is so far back in relation to the Sukhoi ?

What could those planes in the foreground on the left be?

Wake turbulence. The Viper is fairly light and can get bounced around pretty easily if they aren't careful.

Those are commercial airliners. I can't make out the airlines on my phone though.
