I'm sure you're violating the t&c s by asking all that ! If you read the earlier pages you'd see that they came here for an amusing argument , and that's what ensued .
The Life of Brian (seen it ?) was invoked , the scene where Brian wanted a false beard , and was happy to pay 20 dinari , but the seller was more interested in him haggling the price down .
Sometimes the interaction is more entertaining than just taking the money , and this being a discussion forum ... etc .

Does that post make a bit more sense now ? I tried to argue the French case for outrage re op , and pretty much failed .

Hi mate, have to disagree here in that i think the protestors are playing a blinder by kneeling. By doing this, they are effectively submitting themselves before the authorities - it is a perfect form of non violent action. Any response that isn't a "kids gloves" approach would be deemed overwhelming and completely unnecessary force, thereby losing more public sympathy towards the authorities.

Just look towards China for an example: what sticks more in the more mind? Is it the many violent student protests or is it the man kneeling peacefully in front of the tank in Tiannamen Square? The kneeling man still resonates within China and around the world.

I wasn't commenting on the protesters kneeling before the police, I fully understand their tactics and reasoning.

My comments were about a person complaining about alleged police brutality when they'd responded to some schoolkids - teenagers plus - who'd smashed a school up in a suburb of Paris.

When the police arrived they had to arrest and detain 153 people.
In order to make sure they were restrained and no-one could escape etc the evil bastard police made these kids kneel - how barbaric.
It's up there with waterboarding and being put on the rack!

I'm not necessarily criticising the rioters, but riot and its reasonable to expect some sort of reaction from law enforcement.
I don't think detained and suspected rioters can complain about being made to kneel whilst waiting for transportation to a police station for further investigation, do you?

And the weeping and wailing from snowflakes about it is baffling and worrying.....and humorous.
