i always go with Tyson

i admit i am biased a little bit. i was coming up in the 80's when Tyson was crushing it. i remember the domination.

i am also biased because i love the peek a boo style of boxing that you just dont see that much.

if we go by record alone we have to go with Marciano right but there are a lot of factors
how the fights were won
the level of the competition at the time

there is no correct answer and a lot of guys could for sure be in the running

another confession is i am not the biggest boxing fan so i am sure there are plenty of dudes that are not even on my radar

but i go with Tyson

of course most will say Ali and thats a damn good answer

do you think prime vs prime Tyson beats Ali?
i think he does

just an opinion but it is an opinion of a guy that does not know a great deal about the nuances of the sweet science and who has a little bias

who do you say

Man Tyson was awesome to watch spent alot of$$$ on his PPVS.

I just remember what Foreman said about ali.

He said I hit him with everything i had and he just laughed at me and said is that all you got George ,

And I thought Yep it was .

So im going with Ali. But Tyson is my all time favorite.

In their prime Tyson would have murdered Ali

Gotta go by what George said for me. And Tyson was scared of George which is why they never fought.

Great read about it here

Ali was so smart could wear out a puncher, but Tyson especially early on was devastating but later on he lost focus. Does Ali lose to Buster Douglas or Holyfield for that matter. I dont think so, pretty sure in his prime Ali could have wore down Tyson just like Holyfield did. Ali's reach and ring knowledge think would give him a slight edge. Think heavy weight division had a number of decent fighters during Ali's reign Frazier, Holmes, Foreman even Ken Norton all were probably better than any competition Tyson faced except Holyfield. Not saying Tyson couldnt have beat them all but dont think they would fall as easily most his opponents did.

Now remember those old Roman boxers simply can not be compared since there are no records of there often fights' to the death but I would guess some of them would be a match for any of our more modern sportsmen though fighting dirty was part of those old guy's techniques.

I would argue Foreman second but only by a whisker from being first, Ali first or should that be Frazier? and Tyson third at least for the latter part of the twentieth century.
But remember fight fixing has a very long history since there is a lot of money to be made by fixing fight's so we will probably never really know, how many great's that should have been number one faded into oblivion by letting themselves be put down.

Hard to speculate who wins there. Ali could have got in Tyson's head and taken him out of his game. Or a Tyson fury of bombs could have made Ali think Frazier was weak.
These are easily my 2 favorites and tie for my pick.

I'm still a casual fan but pro boxing is beyond corrupt and hard for me to watch these days. I find MMA far more enjoyable anyway.

Tyson has one of the best quotes of all time too

"Everybody has a game plan until they get punched in the face"

LMAO

Ok, Tyson wasn't that damn good.

He was a great puncher that feasted on mediocre opponents during his prime.
Hell buster Douglas beat him..

It's hard to say who is the best because they can't all fight each other.
But if I was forced to choose, pound for pound, Ali was probably the best.
He was a bad bad man that beat some other bad men.

Tyson had the scare factor. He intimidated people . I dont think Ali would have been intimidated.

They break it down... Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Tyson, Muhammed Ali.

By the way, greatest comedy scene of all time.

Hard to say Tyson is the best of all time when his career was derailed by so much controversy and mired in so much "what could have been".

However, I do think that Mike Tyson in his prime with the right support system in his corner (D'Amato, Jacobs, Rooney) beats any fighter than ever lived. Simply because, when properly harnessed, he possessed the most vicious striking, deadly accurate and devastating punch ever seen in a boxing ring. It was truly like witnessing the destructive force of nature in one man's hands.

I doubt we will ever see anything like it ever again.

Well, I'm a Tyson fan myself, but *Klitschko was probably the best if you go by sheer accomplishments.

In the golden era, hell, Frasier was a beast, Foreman, Ali. All those guys were awesome, at least on occasion.

My personal favorite is Evander Holyfield though, just because of the heart he showed against Tyson.

*edit to add, the Klitschko I mean is Wlad, not Vitalli, although he was pretty damned good himself.

Ali would beat Tyson in his prime. Tyson was a beast but he had one style of fighting. Ali would've out boxed him, frustrated him, and ultimately knocked him out. Tyson and Marciano are incomparable, imo, because of the size difference, and training and life-style differences. I say this even though I'm from Mass., Tyson would kill Marciano.

By the way, the heavy weight fight last weekend was the best in a long time. Fury got robbed by the draw but it was an amazing fight. I still can't believe Fury got off the deck in the 12th round.

I agree Tyson was the best to watch as he rolled through the division and murdered people. Mid-1970s Ali would have beaten him though. How? He'd have screwed with Tyson's head for weeks and got him as angry as when he bit EH's ear. Ali withstood some of Foreman's best hits and could have weathered a furious MT. Superior boxing, intellect and psychology would win the day.
