George Bush Sr 41st PotUS Dead

Sentiment seems to rule in this thread. I can understand that, for immediate family members and close personal friends of the former president, but I think all comments on his career are fair game as long as they remain within the terms and conditions.

It is interesting to note that I had one of my "satire" photo cartoons of George H.W. Bush's legacy (of crime) removed from the thread on the grounds that it was "off topic". I disagree with that, but I accept the mod's verdict as always.

George H.W. Bush played a role in some of America's darkest historic episodes. He was an amalgam of American patriotism, greed and criminal enterprise and likeable in many ways. Lots of crooks are likeable, but the effects they produce in the world are most always appalling, as in the case of "Poppy" Bush.

Evil men should not be mourned - but to those in his family (those that are innocent) they do deserve condolences, for it is not their fault they were born into a family with Bush Snr in it and not their fault that family ties bring with them pain at the passing of those held dear.

My condolences to his family. I'm actually surprised he lasted this long after his wife passed.

Agreed. The sins of the Father should not be laid upon the children. They must be their own person and be allowed to do so if they harm no one just like the rest of us peon's.

The late GHW Bush. He was the first president I was old enough to vote for, and I worked the polls for him in my old hometown, and voted for him at age 18.

He was also the first president I ever regretted voting for.

I guess that's the way goes....

You would be so embarrassed if it were let out how you were overheard last week saying you don't think Jeffrey Dhamer was all that bad, that you actually were fond of Ted Bundy or that the Countess Bathory was pleasant and a step high above President Trump.

What is so strange though is that you just let Bush off the hook when he is the same and to an extent that makes these folk look like little amateur weaklings. Bush Sr, who gave the bird to international rules of engagement and had 100 thousand men slaughtered who were waving white flags surrendering to the US army. Who watched as 12000 men were buried alive on the Kuwaiti Iraqi border. Who was named by three Panamanians, one i believe was even a nun, as the man who emerged from one of two limousines (the other being Mitt Romney's car) and along with ol' Mitt, walked into a building...a church or abbey I believe, and put bullets in the heads of seven men who had been dealing on the wrong coc aine turf or had stolen coc aine from the high ups. I mean...just like his son who I am so sick of the eye rolls when you claim he was somehow involved in a certain infamous date we all know and who lied to us all so that Americans would feel justified in allowing our young men and women to go die terrifying deaths as they wrongfully put to death 1.7 million more Iraqis and that's just a few of the obvious ones for both.

They did not follow the rules and they had body counts that would make them both two of the most prolific murderers in history by several tens of thousands of times.

These were evil men driven by power and their somewhat out in the open theist luciferian religion and brotherhoods. They were repulsed by the average homosapiens (imho though I could simply say by homosapiens but that's a totally different topic...) and you don't have to make nice about him to be a good person!

You all know he was against his son taking out Sadam and the reason he didn’t he knew how messed up it would get if he did. He also went bipartisan with a growing debt that cost him his second 4 years because even though he said no new taxes he had to do what was best of the country and he knew it would cost him, but he did the right thing.
