I keep getting redirects on the forum, I’m on an iPad and it happens with both Firefox and safari. I think ATS is being attacked...

I can confirm this on an iPhone 8 (iOS 12)
Constant redirects to “congrats you won bla bla bla” upon the page being finished loading... makes navigating to topics ect extremely difficult. I’m assuming it has to do with the ad service this website uses (however it doesn’t happen all the time), I’d say 97% of the time I visit ATS I will be constantly redirected.

Please fix or let me know how I can fix this issue.
(Disabling JavaScript on Safari for iOS prevents said redirects, but causes all kind of formatting/loading problems among varying websites)

Thank you for your time..
ibb.co... (Has to upload to free hosting site as it wouldn’t let me attach it to this edit)
Edit: just happened again, got a screenshot

And I still have no redirects. Instructive suggestions in the board forum fixed that yrs back.

Go ask a mod...

Add that to the Worst Ads Ever! (SkepticOverlord's Ad Hitlist) thread, so SO can do something about it.

It’s not a ad it’s a browser hi jacking, it’s funny that it’s happening to so many people and no other website does it to them. It’s like it’s a known issue that ats refuses to admit. a reply to: ArMaP

I think it’s absurd that ATS requires users to troubleshoot to achieve basic functionality. I remember when ATS worked fine before it became loaded with ads in the past two years.

Hi..you know...that's another thing. Not everyone logs in..or out, staying tech. open even when shut down.

Clicking a signed in bookmarked desktop or home screen icon, always takes us here.

You'd be surprised at how many are always listed as being online day after day, week after week...

And how does that browser hijack reaches the user's devices?

Ads are targeted, they are chosen by the ads providers according to the information they can gather from the user/device, that's why I get almost no ads (even when logged out), because they have few ads for Portugal. They also use any information they can gather, so people browsing with specific devices can get specific ads (there's no sense in advertising something for an Android device if you are using an IOS device or a games console, for example), and the ads providers also use information from the ads they serve on other sites, so they know (through cookies and other methods) which sites people visit and (if the provider is Google) what searches they made, so the ads some members see are not seen by other members and vice-versa.

If this was a problem on the code of ATS pages it would affect everyone, regardless of device/browser/location, as this specific problem appears to happen only to IOS users it looks to me like it comes from some advert that is targeted to that specific kind of device.

I only have access to an IPad at work, so, at the moment, I cannot try it for myself to see if it happens to me or not, but I will try not to forget to try it on Monday.

PS: any site can know, through the information given by the browser, what ISP, country, browser, browser language and operating system the user is using to access the site, so that information is the most basic any site can gather from a user, and that's enough to choose what kind of action they should do. I have the browser I use for ATS configured with English as the default language, so some Portuguese sites (including one I made) show me the English version instead of the Portuguese version.

It's not, when whatever happens to a user does not happen to all, as that means that there's something specific about those users to which it happens, and we need to know what they have in common to make them have that specific problem.

If you go to the doctor complaining about a pain in belly the doctor (unless he/she is a complete idiot) has to ask you some questions to get a general idea of what your problem is, otherwise he/she may be giving you some prescription that will do nothing or that may even make things worse.

I installed a VPN last year that solved the problem until about two or three days ago. Then the redirects got ridiculous again. So I installed an Ad Blocker. Seems to have solved the problem.

It is ironic I never had problems on “shill” sites like international skeptics or metabunk.

It’s always been ATS, and only ATS that my IPhone has been redirected. Except straight up clickbait sites.

Way to fight the NWO ATS........
