Proton therapy is one of the most cutting edge, highly effective but least known cancer treatments. Unfortunately, there are only 22 operating facilities in the world with only two in the U.S.. One is at Loma Linda Proton Treatment Center and the other is Mass General at Harvard. A third has been built at MD Anderson, in Houston and will come on line in 2006. Their 10 year study at Loma Linda showed as high as 87% cure rate depending on how early the stage of the cancer was caught.
