Monumental Christ The King on the Crystals Mountain, is the 2nd tallest statue of JesusChrist of Colombia, as well as of all the Caribbean basin, being too the 3rd tallest Christ to the middle America.

This is the fifth largest Monument of its type in the Americas after Christ the King of Benalcazar at Risaralda Colombia (38.5 mts of Height plus 7 of Pedestal), Christ Redeemer of Corcovado in Rio at Brazil, Christ of Concord in Bolivian Andes, and Christ of Tlanepantla in Mexico and the fourth highest located, after Christ of Concord of Bolivia, Christ redeemer of the Andes between Chile and Argentina and Christ the King on Cubilete mountain at Guanajuato Mexico.

It measures 26 mts of Height, plus a pedestal 5 mts tall, and his arms extent 21 mts, Its weight is 464 tons. It is about 52% of the size of the Liberty Statue in New York city, but it is located at 15 times higher place, on a Quartz Crystals Mountain of about 1474 mts over the sea level, around 500 mts above the city of Santiago de Cali, at a plato in Western Andes of Colombia.

About a quarter of million of tourists visit the place every year, being one of the most popular tour destinations in Santiago de Cali surroundings, that is one of the three largest cities of Colombia. A deviation from the Panamerican Highway goes toward the top of the mountain in about 30 minutes from the Soccer Stadium of Cali, It was one of the iconic images transmitted around the world during the 1971 Panamerican Games and the 1995 Ocean Pacific Games also in Cali.

The statue site has an incredible so beautiful view of the Cauca's Valley, an Inter Andean basin that contains about 3.5 million inhabitants and it is one of the most important economic regions of Colombia, the closest one to the Panama isthmus with highest population density, a natural bridge between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean.

It was inaugurated on 1953 to commemorate the 50 anniversary of the end of the 1000 days civil war of Colombia. It was unveiled in the ending of a turbulent period called La Violencia, another civil war.

Colombia, it seems you don't know, has the largest museum around the world of Gold objects made by their aborigines since five centuries before Christ was born.

The museum is open 365 days of the year in Downtown of Sta Fe de Bogota but also have branch offices in another 10 cities of the country.

The entire collection that is National Patrimony does not belong to private collectors but administrated by the Central Bank of the country and it has close to 55000 objects.

Neither Peru or Mexico have close to that amount of Pre Hispanic Gold in their museums, only Costa Rica have another large museum of its own Gold Precolumbian Art that contain 7000 objects.

Yes,

Christ redeemer or The King statues around the world are beautiful since depict him with a very large warm hug offered generously to the entire humanity, a symbolism of love of God for to the entire world, embracing all the people of good will from every nationalities.

The pose suggest the arrival of a Kingdom of Peace, harmony, respect for everybody, based on a kind of justice that will not come from repression of bad behavior but from inner transformation of all the men and women to think only in terms of what is kind, ethic, pure and clean.

Christ offered or as you say wanting a hug is a traditional way also to depict him giving the Sermon of the Beatitudes.
