It is my understanding that 2/3 of the House has to vote for impeachment, and then the Senate has to vote to approve. If this is the case, they will be wasting time and taxpayer moneys on this shenanigan.

Can someone clarify on how this works?

I think that is the point -- to waste time and money dreaming up impossible outcomes instead of focusing on real issues... in order to derail Trump's agenda

Not to mention further the media's negative news cycle on Trump, with zero regard for We the People.

That's the part I don't get either. dems must know it will not go through the Senate, waste of money, time and energy.

Sounds like you get it perfectly fine. That's exactly their point...to create distractions, chaos and to waste colossal amounts of money and time. That's precisely their point, and that's why they need to go.

Not such a surprise that the Dems will use their new power in the House for this, but still, putting party ahead of Country...

And the conservatives don't do the exact same thing??? Democrats who had the majority of the house impeached Nixon. Republicans who had the majority of the house impeached Clinton. The Republican majority ignored Bush W's lie with the Iraq war where over 5,000 Americans lost their lives, didn't impeach. The Republican majority has ignored Trumps numerous scandals, and has turned a blind eye to his divisiveness, lies, and hate speech.

So lets stop this nonsense thinking conservatives are so much more honest and credible than democrats. Their both self-serving and until Americans like you start realizing this and demanding accountability from both political parties, the citizens of this country and the country itself will end up being the loser! Americans are shooting themselves in the foot by taking political sides instead of recognizing the wrongs and political $$$ influence being used on both sides.

Well he better start scrambling to figure out how he intends to impeach kavanaugh who has no impeachable offense and with RBG replacement imminent. Id like to see what bullcrap dems pull when Amy Coney Barrett is appointed.

That's when we'll discover it's possible for a woman to rape a man. According to Corey Booker, at least.

Im still trying to figure out on what grounds they will try and impeach Trump. Because he hurt your little feel-feels isnt a valid reason to impeach the POTUS.

The House can impeach with a simple majority, but it requires a 2/3 vote in the Senate to remove, something which has never happened, and certainly will not this time.

Actually, the Senate had the votes to impeach Nixon, which is why he resigned.

Personally, I don't think the Dems will really try to impeach Trump before Mueller releases his report, or perhaps after, if the courts find that Trump violated the "Emolument Clause". If they do, it will result in their defeat in 2020. But, if there's a damning ruling or report, it could happen.

"Democrat" needs official recognition as a mental illness. These people deserve our compassion, and a straitjacket.

Not such a surprise that the Dems will use their new power in the House for this, but still, putting party ahead of Country...

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D) who will likely chair the House Judiciary Committee in 2019 was overheard talking loudly on his phone to several callers on an Amtrak train from New York to Washington on Wednesday, about post-election strategy – and has been overheard by a reporter.

One of the calls were about how the Democrats are planning to start the Impeachment against President Trump as well as against Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Conservative blog The Federalist published the result, a blow-by-blow account of New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler's plan for House Democrats to launch a series of investigations into President Donald Trump and ultimately pursue his impeachment over the unproven theory that his 2016 campaign colluded with Russian agents.

Nadler also revealed that he is hopeful Democrats will impeach Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, whose contentious Senate confirmation hearings this fall featured uncorroborated claims of sexual assault.

To a second caller he was talking about identity politics and he was worrying aloud that Demorcats will be blamed if the Trump boom slows down, since the economy is blooming at the moment.

Nadler's phone calls on Wednesday included one with an unnamed incoming member of Congress who he advised on committee assignments. In another call, according to The Federalist, he 'lamented identity politics and the thriving economy,' worrying aloud that Demorcats will be blamed if the Trump boom slows down.

Again these plans should be no surprise to anyone, however Democrats should be much more careful to give away their "genious" plans so easily. This is just as idiotic as it gets...

It's important to note here that your conservative blog The Federalist is owned and operated by the Koch brothers in order to push their agenda. So... "Dems putting party above politics" or "Republicans selling the country to the highest bidder", I'm more worried about the second one.

Dems have been rolling over for decades. # resistance = #assistants
The only reason you don't like the dems is because you were told not to.

Obama's grand gesture to cut Social Security (which last I heard you guys wanted). Slap in the face.
Obama's Affordable Care Act written by Mitt Romney. Slap in the face.
What exactly has Pelosi accomplished? Slap in the face.

You guys keep crying about the Democrats destroying our country while you are cry-bullying and punching down. Way to go!

Your president isn't going to get impeached, he isn't even going to get a slap on the hand. But you are going to get wound up by libertarian media, your president is still going to incite violence against your fellow citizens and nothing is going to change. The oligarchs are still in charge, your still going to get *snip on, and they are still going to tell you to blame the Dems.

Ho can you not see that libertarianism only benefits the obscenely wealthy at the cost of your sweat? Redistribution of the wealth is not a socialist only idea, they have been sucking up your money and redistributing to the top for almost 40 years now. Our country didn't go to *snip because Democratic spending, heck Dems have proven to be more fiscally conservative than your side all this time. Libertarians are stealing from you. Trickle-down is a joke and we are the butt of it.

An investigation should be launched, this is highly unethical
behavior and should not be tolerated.

Unethical, unprofessional, and bizarre.

even if it is a conservative blog, it seems this has really happened. Below is a quote from the twichy source.

Nadler was headed to DC for a two-day planning session with his staff and Judiciary Committee staff. “We’ve got to figure out what we’re doing,” he explained in a phone call with a friend. Nadler requested that the friend’s name be concealed on the grounds he is a private citizen.

It's that stuff that Mueller is collecting.

Yeah right. LOL

That's why Nixon tried to shut down the free press and why Deep Throat's identity wasn't released for decades......Because evidence was so freely and honestly released to the public in those days!

No, simple House majority is enough to impeach.

The 2/3 vote is to remove the President (or Judge) in an impeachment trial in the Senate.
