I got a call around 6:30pm last night and it was someone from some political committee, some "democratic process... something or other" IIRC - not specifically related to the Democratic Party, by name at least. The young woman rattled off something I couldn't really understand (kinda mumbled spanish accent) asked if I knew there was an election today and if I had voted. I said that I did and she asked if she could ask me some questions. When I said yes she acted very surprised and was like, "oh, well OK.." it seemed she had to find the questions to ask and wasn't expecting to get a yes answer or she was just totally distracted and unprepared.

She started stating the candidates for certain races and asked who I voted for. I told her I wasn't going to tell her any of my votes and if that is what this survey was for, then she could stop and just put down that I voted. She gave a disgusted "kkiihuhhh" noise and mumbled something as she hung up.

IDK if this is kind of call is for, to remind people to vote if they haven't and or to try to find out who you voted for, or both. I'm guessing that is really the only reason I can see. It was about 90 mins before polls closed. I don't remember ever having calls like this, and the caller did specifically ask for me by name, so I was on some list.

Did anyone else get calls like this? I wonder what would have happened had I said I didn't vote, would they have suggested candidates and urge me to vote? I thought they might have been doing a survey about experience at the polls not asking who I voted for, I didn't think people would have the gall to do that.

If you had said you didn't vote my guess is the next election you'd have an absentee ballot sent in on your behalf, straight ticket democrat

I did not.

I also thought voting was public record?

Obviously not who you voted for but just the fact if you voted or not.

You should've just told her random things that didn't really happen. She has no business in how you vote, especially if she has enough personal information on you to contact you.

You seem to be a wee bit over paranoid with people knowing how you vote between this thread and the thread from yesterday. Don’t think there’s a big conspiracy to find out how one average joe voted, I could be wrong but I don’t see why the effort for a nobody (no offense, neither am I). I’d say relax a little don’t take life too seriously, you’ll never make it out alive.

I don't believe
This happened
to me.
But I screen my calls typically. you should do that too.

I've had calls before the election, probably pollsters. I tend to ignore those. But sometimes answer on reflex.
I'm polite, but I don't show my cards to anyone. I may change my mind at the last moment.
