If I could ask of all of you one thing this year. Make sure you vote. I did. I still think our votes matter. Especially on the lower end of the ballot. I literally won a real election once by 6 votes. They matter.

Especially the ballot measures.. Your votes do count.

I'm a firm believer that things don't change unless you take action and that you can't complain unless you at least try to do something about it.

I voted some of each party this time. I voted who I thought had the most real character and would do the best job. But probably a few more democrats than republicans... and several independent and third party candidates this time.

i never buy into the hyperbole that "this is the most important elction of our lifetime!" LOL But every election has some importance and we should vote.

And for your peace of mind...even if "Your team" loses, it's not the end of the world. Take a deep breath and move on.

And if "Your" Candidate beat mine, no problem. We're still friends unless your a jerk to me.

And best of all? No more political mailers clogging up your mailbox after today!

At this point, I think the ethical thing to do is not to vote.

Ethical?

What, no ballot initiatives? No appropriations measures?

Really?

Fair enough, but if you vote with silence, make sure you follow suit if it comes time for you to complain about the results.

I voted last week when it was warmer. Rainy, windy, cold in Chicago today.

BTW.. To Report voting irregularities or violations, here are instructions from the Dept of Justice.

Just got back.

I hope Mickey Mouse gets it. One local race had a Republican (who I know; guy's a crook from the word go) running unopposed, so I wrote in "Mickey Mouse." Useless, I know, but it will at least show someone, hopefully, that I wasn't pleased with the choice (or lack thereof).

Nationally, I went full Republican. Locally, I split my vote. It ain't the party; it's the people.

Thanks for posting that. And it was really nice, we walked over to the polling location in shorts and a T-shirt this morning.

Not only that, but only criminals wear gloves all the time.

Still better than the other guy. Mickey Mouse is now the lesser of two evils.

What world have we created when I can type that?

I only had two seats to vote on.
One senate, one house.

Funny thing about that is that that goes against freedom of speech. I love when people say "you didnt vote therefor you cant have an opinion or complain". Congrats on being unamerican
Freedom to vote or not. Freedom to voice your opinion.

You got it all wrong.

If you vote than you consent to this circus no matter which clown wins.

So if you vote you have no right to complain - you got what you want so live with it.

Those of us who do not vote did not consent to anyone on any ballots, so therefore we still reserve the right to complain about the voters and all the disasters they keep voting into office.

I suggest flagging the thread only if you voted. Give us a tally.

That's an easy ballot. You didn't have any ballot measures or judges or Assemblypeople etc?

I think the point is, it makes no sense to complain in a venue that cannot change what you're complaining about when you refuse to complain in a forum that can make a change.

A blank vote is a vote for whoever everyone else wants.

But what about voting third party, independent or write in choices. And most ballot measures have a direct impact on your life. Sometimes small changes like this on the inside can have big effects down the line. Just my opinion.
