Is it not obvious that all of this is part of the agenda to stop brexit. That includes Mays struggle to keep her job, the demand for a second referendum, the negotiation failure etc etc etc etc

There is no way the British government and the elite were ever going to allow brexit to happen and this is all part of the agenda.

I can imagine the discussions behind closed doors:

Ok we will let them think Brexit is going to happen, then work with our partners to ensure that the public is brainwashed, so that they start demonstrating in London for a final vote, they will then vote on the final say being that we stay in the customs union etc etc... BANG, brexit in name only!

OR

Do all of the above, May is conveniently pushed out as leader and a VERY convenient general election is called and labour is voted in... BANG, no brexit at all.

If we do not leave the EU in full then I am out of this country, I am packing up and I am moving.

That is all

I wish to understand why you prefer to have Great Britain leave the European Union. As a major history buff, the EU has kept stability in Europe and stopped the prospect of warring with each other. Is that not a good thing? What good reason is there to break up a union? I mean no offense, and apologize if I did offend, but I am just trying to comprehend what good you believe will come from Brexit? Again, many apologies for any offense.

If Brexit fails, you could live anywhere in the EU you wanted to but you would be subject to the same rules. Unless you have skills that are in demand, I think you will find it hard to emigrate to any other country.

I am a Brit in Holland and they have said they won't automatically kick us all out if Brexit happens (apparently there are 45,000 Brits here) but if that were to happen I would just take Dutch citizenship. Time will tell I guess.

The EU membership is seen as undesirable by some because the British Isles loses their autonomy. EU membership also costs a pretty penny which could be better spent at home doing important things like funding the NHS, etc.

As for the EU keeping stability, I think that is just nonsense with little evidence to back it up.

I would say, as my opinion, the EU helps safeguard against wars against member states. Their shared economies and resources seem as a damper against war.

I am sure that, if politicians actually did the right thing, issues could be overcome and happiness spread to all members. That would be possible if officials lived up to the expectations of their office.

Thank you for your reply.

Article 50 has been signed so on March 29th we will leave the EU , Juncker , Tusk and the others don't want that so they're making things as difficult as they can but when push comes to shove by March 29th they will have to agree a deal or risk the 5th largest economy in the world , second largest economy in Europe leaving their club and economies bereft of a major trading partner.

The way this has been handled by the EU has been disgraceful , an extension to the 2 year transition period is in my mind unacceptable and just another ploy by the EU to delay the inevitable , to her credit May has finally started playing hardball but she needs to hold her nerve , we can survive a no deal and WTO rules while not ideal are better than becoming a vassal state of Europe which is what the Customs Union proposal will make us.

Hold your nerve fusiondoe , it was always going to be a bumpy ride but we are still on course , 5 months and counting.

As a major history buff you say? How far back does your history go? What potential wars has the EU prevented exactly?

How do you feel about a one world government? That would prevent wars happening by the same logic wouldn’t it?

I cannot tell you what wars have been prevented because they have not happened. War can arise quickly for reasons that seem trivial. You never know, Hungary might have had aspirations to exact revenge upon Austria for their subjugation.

The economies of Europe are so connected now, war no longer has any advantages between member states.

If done correctly I would gladly accept a unified global government to unite the species finally. What good do borders and nations humanity when we all are the same species?

I thought it was clear a 2nd referendum won't happen? And it wouldn't change anything. I heard the text is done 90% and only the Irish border is an issue.

I'd say NATO membership has done more to keep the peace in Europe than the European Union.

I used to think the same when I was young and naive too. There is a saying that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Look at it like this, if amazon grew to have complete control of the market place and it did away with all competitors it would be a monopoly. Do you think that would be a good thing?

There are those in this day and age that would do away with NATO. The big difference between both is freedom to travel freely without flashing a passport.

Personally I accept a united Europe over the NATO alliance any day of the week.

You're so full of #. All the eu does is reward the more #ed up members that don't know how to run their # like Greece, at the expenses of the ones who are more prosperous like the UK. It's a joke and the British know it which is why they voted to leave that # stain and never adopt the currency.

While I agree with you about monopolies, I cannot foresee a bright future with humanity divided as it is.

Their economies are terrible because their leaders are terrible. Would you have the average citizen of a country suffer so you may enjoy a life of comfort?

Instead of turning your back and abandoning, how about offering help and guiding them to be more prosperous? Selfless rather than selfish?

That may be so but you are in the States , here EU membership means supporting an overly expensive bureaucracy tailored to the benefit of Germany and France and abiding by rules imposed by foreign polticians some of whom are unelected by any European citizens , all NATO requires is payment of dues for a guarantee of protection.

Welcome to ATS.

The US is similar in many regards. We pay to an overbearing DC run by officials who keep things beneficial for themselves. Replace states with countries and it's nearly a mirror image of the EU.

Thank you for your welcome, I will enjoy being here.

I would have those people step up and fix their country. Overthrow their leadership if they have and quit looking for give to hand them everything. It doesn't work that way. So yes if they won't stand up and take their lives and their govt into their own hands then they should suffer.

Its not remotely the same. They all speak different languages, with completely different cultures.

Italy is gagging to leave the EU, Poland and France and others do not even abide by EU laws and I've said it on here a dozen times, go to a French supermarket and IF you see a British product, it is triple the price. Also, you NEVER see a British truck further than five miles into France.

My wife thinks May is looking for a way out so Boris can get in and let rip with a big two finger salute.

As for all these protesters wanting a re-vote, WTH is that about? A vote was a vote. You can't just suddenly say to 52% of the population that we don't like your decision, so we are going to vote again. What would happen if it came out the same way?

At 11.00 PM GMT on March 29th 2019. The U.K. will leave The E.U.

That is written into U.K. Law.

For all those that are asking for a " Peoples Vote " , we had a " Peoples Vote " in June 2016. The result was for The U.K. to leave The E.U.
